01/07/2016 12:00 amI've been to Grandmother's before and always enjoyed it! I was excited to be going there for my friend's birthday party; She reserved a table for 8 people, not knowing for sure how many people would come and it turned out that 12 people showed up. The food was alright, but my mixed drink tasted weird and I had my friend try it as well to be sure. The main issue that night was the supervising manager. She was rude and seemed frustrated that we needed another table. There were many issues with the server, but we were informed by the manager Saulena that the server was new and still learning. The real issues were that 2 of our party did not get their food until 30 minutes after the rest of us got our food. The manager only discount $1 off everyone's ticket. I did not get my drink, which I never drank, refunded to me; I can't believe the attitude and cursing the manager did when most of us were upset that it took over 45 minutes to get our checks and most of the checks were only discounted $1. I have never been more dissatisfied at a restaurant before. I really hope they get their night management under control. |

08/19/2015 9:38 pmI want to respond to a review by Kevin Marklay. My name is Matt Smith and I'm the General Manager and the Manager that Mr. Marklay was referring to. I do not disagree with the content of what Mr. Marklay wrote and I'm extremely embarrassed by my actions but, I do wish to add to the discussion. This incident happened 9 months ago. At the time that it happened I felt horrible that I had let my emotions get the best of me. I make no excuses for my behavior that day and after the shift was completed I sat down with both servers and expressed my sincere apologies for my unprofessional behavior. Additionally, I contacted my boss and told him of the incident. The Monday after the incident, on my own accord, I signed up for a series of counseling sessions so that I could understand what led to that and so that I could learn from it and prevent it from happening again. I visited with a counselor for 2 months on my own dime. I like to think that I have learned not to allow my emotions get the best of me. |

08/19/2015 5:31 amI used to frequent this restaurant a lot. One particular Saturday afternoon I brought my grandchildren in there for lunch and observed something disturbing. Our service and food was excellent, but a bald headed manager started screaming curse words at the two waiters working. Our server J.C. apologized to us after we asked him what the heck was going on. I confronted the manager and he denied it! I would've accepted an apology, but he decided to flat out deny he said the "F word", which I know he did. After contacting the corporate office I was told they would take care of the situation, but after my next visit I saw the same manager and he didn't even acknowledge us. I will not dine there again after recognizing how they treat their staff and customers. Also this happened awhile ago so maybe they have replaced this manager, but the damage is done for me. I will not return. |
