I LOVE the Ha Penny! they have great food with a big selection on their menu... everything from salads and burgers to hand made fish & chips and Irish lamb stew, shepherds pie and more! The pub atmosphere is fun and vibrant. This is a place you MUST visit when you are downtown Boise.

I love this place. The food never disappoints and I always get fast service. Try the fish and chips -- they are so delicious -- the burger is also amazing. They have a great beer selection as well. Next time you're downtown in the BODO area I would try this place!!

There certainly IS an Irish ceilidh (referred to by the locals as the Irish Jam Session) EVERY Sunday at 7:30pm until about 10:00pm. The place is filled with traditional instruments, various reciting of poetry, songs in both Scots Gaelic and Irish, various folk tunes and sometimes even Irish dancers! Those who complain that this place isn't Irish enough has NEVER been there on a SUNDAY NIGHT and are MISSING OUT!
This place has a great environment and service. The food is good and the regulars are friendly. I agree it gets pretty busy but the staff does a wonderful job of running from table to table and trying to cater to even the most unruly costumers. I have been going to the Ha- Penny for 4 years and during the day there may or may not be Irish music playing. In the evenings there will be live folk music or the occasional local band.

Joy is awesome! Great experience...even in the middle of the day. Bean dip, Reuben, and Irish dip were all tasty. Concur they should be playing Irish music, but the Motown......Ray McCharles, Sam O'Cook were a great substitute.
