The owner went out of his way to accommodate my family for Easter brunch, and the rest of the service was excellent. The food was well prepared, especially the bacon-wrapped meatloaf and the crab Benedict.

We went to Hattie's with friends while we were visiting Dallas. A very nice, white table-cloth place with soft colors and dim lights making for a perfect dinner atmosphere. Made you feel like you were in the Carolina's rather than Texas!! The menu was quite extensive - much more that we actually expected. We started with appetizers including tender tempura calamari garnished with fried pickled okra. We are not really okra fans, but we were surprised at how really good it was. (must have been the pickling!). Also had the fried green tomatoes, which were also very delicious. We followed with Hattie's rendition of a Caesar salad (while I'm a Caesar salad fan, I didn't care for their presentation of this classic). My wife, however, really did enjoy her salad of roasted beets and blueberries with a balsamic dressing (very different, but delicious!). My partner had the pecan crusted catfish served with grits and veggies and I enjoyed the low country shrimp and grits with hints of tabasco. Both were very good and we cleaned our plates!! Our friends had the pulled pork and grits and a chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese. She enjoyed the chicken, but he did not care for the pulled pork, saying it was quite dry! However, desserts made up any deficiencies - the bread pudding was fantastic and the strawberry shortcake was also quite tasty. All of the food was well presented, garnished and very attractive. Jeff was our server and he was quite attentive and professional, but not over-bearing. The tab with tax/tip was closing in on $60 each plus the valet parking. A real vacation treat that we enjoyed while catching up with our friends.

The food was OK but way overpriced. I assumed the special of the day the waiter told us about was at least similar to menu prices. $19.99 and during lunch, way too expensive. The food was not worth that. Won't go back.

Small but really excellent restaurant. Casual ambiance. Very good service. And a friendly chef/owner who obviously prepares his food with great care. All the dishes we had rated high in both taste and presentation, including the mushroom torte, the duck comfit, the bouillabaisse, and the vegetarian casserole. The appetizers were also good, while several desserts (the hot apple pie and the coconut pudding) were outstanding. BYOB, no corkage fee. We will definitely return.

Had the most wonderful dinner here. Celebrating my daughter's birthday. This place is so classy and they treat you like royalty! The food is awesome. I had the shrimp and grits. Birthday daughter had the NY Strip and the other daughter had the salmon. The molten chocolate cake was surely made by the angels in heaven! The best part was sitting in the lounge for the after dinner cocktails (white chocolate martini) and chatting with the guy who turned out to be the owner and the most adorable man we have ever met! Can't wait to go here again.
