04/26/2015 12:03 am"Inventive" Mexican small plates are "served with a side of hipster" at this "sceney", "sex-Mex" standout that's a prime example of the "Bowery renaissance"; sure, "service could be better", but tabs are "pretty reasonable" and insiders say the tasting menu–only "chef's table is the way to go." |

02/06/2015 5:22 pmWow. This may be the best Mexican restaurant in NYC, although to say so might discount its elevated cuisine. The food is simply outstanding. I generally avoid the superlative, but they have likely the best fish tacos I have ever had, mixed with octopus and sablefish giving a unique umami flavor. Additionally the shirt rib burritos were simply outstanding, loaded with flavor that hits you from the first bite. The queso fundidos are also a must. |

12/17/2014 1:07 pmI've heard lots of hype about Hecho en Dumbo, and while the food is decent, it's the happy hour that makes this place so great (to pay full price would make the experience far less enjoyable; it isn't that great). Margaritas are excellent, and come in an assortment of flavors. Tuna is nicely sauced and seasoned, tender pork sliders are perhaps the best thing they offer, and steak tacos are somehow too beefy and not the tastiest. Guacamole is light and fresh and salsa are bright and spicy. Service is friendly and attentive. Go for half priced drinks and a cheap bite — to pay full price would be downright silly. |

09/12/2014 12:26 pmOne day I was walking trough Bowery and I stumbled upon this place. As soon as I got in I knew I had made the right decision. If you're into some cocktails stay at the bar where you can enjoy some interesting modern creations made with traditional Mexican ingredients (must try the Jamaica Margarita). If your stomach demands it, then head to the back to enjoy some really tasty and delicious dishes. |

03/28/2014 10:55 pmGranted I've only been living in NYC for about half a year, this is the best food I've had here. The guacamole indescribable, the entrees impeccable, not enough good words can be said. The wooden, dim atmosphere is homey and comfortable, the servers are extremely friendly, and the beer's great, too. Will be recommending and attending for awhile. An instant go-to. Oh, and the flan. Jesus, the flan. |
