Hoopers Crab House, Ocean City, Maryland Restaurant Details

We went there for dinner one night, July 14th, while on vacation to Assateague Island. The atmosphere was incredible. The food was phenomenal. I got the All-you-can-eat crab feast and my fiancee got the haddock, and we got clams casino for our app. Everything was fantastic, needless to say you got so much, you couldn't eat it all, and I can eat! I highly recommend this place to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both my husband and I loved our dinner,The service was great.I would drive to Maryland 3 hour just to have that stuffed flounder (filled with shrimp and scallops) Awesome atmosphere for any family.And the prices were very good.

DO NOT FALL FOR THE HYPE!!! You are MUCH better off going probably anywhere else if you want seafood! I ate here with a 9 year old and a 2 year old. From the minute we walked in, I should've known to leave! The "hostesses" were deep in conversation and we had to wait for them to finish before they could seat us. Ugh. They had nice outdoor seating and plenty of room in this huge building, yet they sat us in a dark corner in the back. I ordered the all you can eat which included corn, crabs, fried chicken, shrimp and hush puppies. This was sharable with the 2 year old. The 9 year old ordered a cheese burger. First, let me say that our waitress was from Russia or something, like one of the people that are hired to work on the boardwalk for free room and board and you can barely understand them. At the boardwalk it isn't so bad but when I go out to eat, I'd rather not have to deal with the language barrier when asking questions and trying to order a meal! Anyway, back to the food...being in Maryland, one would expect fresh seafood and delicious crabs. Well if that is what you want, don't go here!! Everything they brought us, even including the burger, came very quick. That obviously was because it had been sitting in the kitchen under some sort of crappy warmer just waiting for someone to order it. Everything was just barely warm and disgusting is an understatement. I decided to save the seafood for last since that is my favorite. I took one bite of the "famous fried chicken" and had to spit it back on the plate. I love seafood but when my chicken tastes like it has been cooked in the same juices as my seafood has, no thanks. DISGUSTING! Didn't touch the chicken again. Was planning on feeding that to the 2 year old, I wouldn't feed that to my dog! The first round of shrimp there were 6 shrimp, 2 were a bluish black color, WTF, the others were overcooked and barely warm. The hushpuppies were dried out and barely warm. The corn wasn't very warm either but that was actually very good. Congrats Hoopers CRAB HOUSE, your only saving grace was the boiled corn on the cob. I got to the crabs and....ew. Gross! They had absolutely been sitting around and they were gross. As someone who has caught and cooked their own fresh crabs their entire life, these were NOT fresh in any way shape or form. I was really looking forward to this meal and the reviews that were posted made me think I was going to get something delicious. Wrong, sooooooooo, soooooooo wrong. Save some money and go off the beaten path even to one of the roadside stands right around there and you will have a much more enjoyable dinner!!!

The food was absolutely amazing. Even the sides were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The wait staff was excellent and attentive, frequently offering more seafood for those in our party who ordered "all-you-can-eat" meals. I ordered surf and turf with filet and a crab cake and enjoyed every bite. I was very impressed and plan to return.

A 20 yr tradition for our family. Our best night on vacation enjoying the all you can eat crabs. We love sitting on the boats eating with the great staff always friendly and fast with service
