The worst place ever horrible. Overpriced for such a small place with disgusting service and waitresses with a bad attitude .

PROS:

Fish is very good and they have some really interesting rolls available. There are a number of different selections that include the crunchy fried softshell crab which is very delicious. They have two different options for Toro, the fatty tuna belly which is my favorite cut but they were out of both when I was there. The ambiance is quite nice and it is truly a hip little spot. The presentation of the food is very nice. It is also a BYOB which is great.

CONS:

Normally at a sushi restaurant each piece of sushi you order comes in a set of two and this is a standard for pretty much every sushi restaurant everywhere. At Izumi, each sushi order is for one piece of sushi. This is just stupid and it doesn't say so on the menu. So if you are used to normal portions you are going to be as confused as I was when the food comes. The service is pretty pitiful as well. They brought part of my order out on someone else's plate and put it in front of the other person. Also, the bill at the end was completely messed up beyond belief.

-----

If you are looking for a more traditional sushi place this spot is not for you. If you are looking for a hip joint in a bustling little part of town and are willing to put up with bad service to get good food then maybe this place is for you. I would not go here with a big party, the place is pretty small.

I recommend Vic Sushi at 20th and Sansom as a much better alternative to this place.

Very fresh Sushi and rolls. Nice ambiance and good service. I like the location most of all since I live close by.

Four of us were going to a restaurant, but it was abandoned. Luckily, we found Izumi nearby. We walked in and were immediately seated. The menu is small, and it is easy to understand. Our server was very nice and asked us if we wanted to hold on to the menus after we ordered. We ordered the suonomo, avocado rolls, gyoza, soft shell crab, and seared scallops. They were all amazing. The seared scallops were some of the best I ever had. All the fish was delicious, and the avocado rolls were awesome and only $4. The other items were around $10 each. After these, we asked for the menu back and ordered more awesome food. After all this, our nice server asked about dessert. We were split, but when we saw the menu, we went for it. The bread pudding was great, and topped with a silky scoop of gelato. The most filling dessert, it felt like the best deal. All the desserts are $7.50. Donuts and creme brulee were also deemed delicious. Our total was over $100, but reasonable for the quality and service. The server was very polite, cared about presentation, and was understanding. Our group of four enjoyed everything and left satisfying. This would be a good date location. Definitely reccomend
