I loved our 7th wedding anniversary dinner at j Alexander's. Food was excellent, service was fabulous. Our overall opinion is that I'd come back here anytime.

The finest resturant comparing to red lobster or cheddars or any other places. 5 star forever!

There are times when this place is great - and times when it barely passes as a decent restaurant. Given the price of items, I'd expect more consistency. The Cesar salad is dry and uninspired, clearly missing any hint of "cesar", and being just dry chopped lettuce sprinkled with parmesan. They recently removed one of my favorites - cilantro shrimp - from the menu. The fish specials can be great. I had a swordfish over flash-fried potatoes that was spectacular (should be on the menu more often). The Cajun trout can also be exceptional, but it varies. They have a serious problem with "staging" the meal. If you don't specifically ask, your entre will arrive three bites into your salad. I understand that they probably want to turn tables as quickly as they can, but in a restaurant where you're often looking at $50/per person plus, this is annoying and unprofessional

Absolutely amazing. Everything from the fried calamari, the filet mignon, crab cakes, and even the Mac and cheese was cooked to perfection! The environment was very comfortable albeit a little noisy(lunch rush) but the service was excellent and there were no complaints from anyone at my table. In fact they all gave the restaurant 5 stars as well!

They are rebranding older J. Alexanders as "Redlands Grill," and sadly, it seems they have downgraded their meat quality with this rebranding. We had two prime ribs and the coffee ribeye. While they were prepared well, the meat didn't taste very good. At a price point of $28-33 for these entrees, which didn't come with salad, I expect better.
