Since a couple of well known eateries disappeared couple of years back the scene hasn't pick up yet. Come here on weekdays from 10am-5pm is deserted only a few people around. Weekends is a little better mainly because of entertainment (Plank or Regal Cinema). On Sundays there is a farmers market in the common area. Be warn rampant train barreling down track with horn blaring.

This is probably one of the prettiest parts of Oakland - Jack London Square is right on the water and it's fun to walk along the shops and look at boats. They also have a lot going on - and a great weekly email telling about all their fun activities.

Last weekend they had Tall Ships - a couple of large boats that are being shown there for the next couple of weeks as they make their way up and down the coast. You can tour the boats (only the upper deck, since the crew lives below) and they do a battle between the two boats which you can be onboard during (for $75). Only one of the ships was harbored when we walked by, but it was cool to check out.

There is a small park for kids, and for adults there is the new Plank bar/restaurant with bowling, arcade, and more! Restaurants, bars, music, desserts. Pretty much everything needed to make a great afternoon or romantic date.

The Jack of All Trades market and the Farmers Market take place on Saturdays and Sundays - really fun to check out!

Lovely spot to walk along on a nice summer day. They have tons of restaurants and outdoor events that take place. This review is for the Eat Real festival that took place in September. They have tons of food truck vendors that gather along the strip. All items are $5 or less to give foodies an opportunity to sample as many dishes as they possibly can. I tried the Chairman Boa truck and recommend getting the braised porkbelly buns. So good!

This is a really cute stretch. I love how it's right on the water and there's a lot to look at. It's pretty quiet and makes for a nice leisurely stroll when the weather is right! Lots of cool restaurants to choose from and the Jack of All Trades market is a fun experience too. Not a ton of vendors compared to the flea markets, but still a fun weekend activity.
