Some of these reviewers must be on drugs. I enjoyed the place, it's casual and comfy, the staff was great and the food was unique and very tasty. Good wine available and moderate prices. Good tapa style items were available. I've eaten in hundreds of restaurants all over this country and I would return here.

I liked it so much the first time, went back two days later for a second time and it was just as good. Striped seabass in a bed of bamboo rice, kumquats, you name it. This is just well balanced, fresh, fun food. Had the berry boom cocktail with blueberries they infuse in a jar on the bar for two weeks. This is the kind of special attention that makes Jax worth a few dollars extra for a great meal. Can't say enough about this place. You won't be disappointed.

Great velvet cake. The fish and vegetables are generally fresh. The duck tacos are but a bit expensive. I would also recommend their burger and pork "porterhouse".

The food here is INCREDIBLE. It's a little pricey, so you definitely want to make it a special occasion, but it's certainly worth it. I love the atmosphere, and the service is great. Our waiter was particularly attentive to my 2-year-old son and "worked" with us to find a food he would like - very much appreciated. We got the goat cheese appetizer and couldn't believe how yummy it was. I ordered the Kobe beef burger..... Heaven, I tell you. And the fries were to die for, too. My husband got the steak with blue cheese sauce, and it pretty much just melted in your mouth. Drinks are very good, as well. Definitely a new favorite restaurant of ours.

I had the steak dinner for two with twice baked potato sides for me and my boyfriend on a Saturday night. Here's my assessment:

The servers are very friendly and prompt.
The atmosphere is very relaxing and modern.
Jax Kitchen serves both complimentary bread and potato chips, both of which are excellent.
The soup was amazing (carrot and almonds with basil puree).
The entree was the most phenomenal food I've ever eaten at a restaurant.

So, overall, both my boyfriend and I concluded that Jax Kitchen has the best food in Tucson. We won't eat there very often because it's a little expensive ($60 total), but it's where we'll go when we really want to eat well.
