12/04/2015 5:39 pmIf I was judging on the waitstaff alone I'd give this place six stars out of five, but unfortunately I'm not. The food is pretty bad. You get what you pay for at Jim's. The meat is very poor quality. My daughter asked for the chicken fried steak and it was highly processed. I know chicken fried steak is cube steak but this was something almost gelatinous and covered with canned gravy. The ham I ordered was chopped and pressed until it was nearly spam and I had to spit out gristle (from ham?!?). Frozen hash browns. I noticed the praise is over the pancakes and baked goods. Maybe that's the trick- don't order meat. |

01/09/2015 5:59 pmJim's is my favorite Boise dinner and their food has been great and consistently great. If you miss your mom Joanie is the most loving waitperson in Boise--very special. You can't beat Jim's homemade pies and soup. Not fancy, just a great dinner. |

09/27/2014 10:39 pmUsed to have the best breakfast steak in town. Today I ordered medium rare and got well done and it took a long time to get our meals. There were very few customers at the time (around noon on a Saturday). The server offered to send it back, but I never send food back. May have just been a bad day, but based on how empty the place was, I suspect a trend. |

01/23/2009 1:41 amSave room for the pies! I love this place - My family has eaten there since 1965 if not longer and every time you know what you are getting and it is GREAT! It is a sure cure for a hangover, a great meal at a great price, mending a frayed relationship (hide in a booth) and going back in time. The milkshakes are wonderful and the booth tables make you feel like a little kid. YUM! |
