"Legendary to locals", this "grab-and-go" West Village pizzeria (with a Greenwich Village offshoot) has been slinging "hot-out-of-the-oven" slices since 1975; "hole-in-the-wall" looks and "stand-up counter service" are part of this "quintessential NY" experience, but explain why some are "not impressed."

heavenly... truthfully heavenly pizza. I love how authentic it is, the people the pizza the price, the restaurant itself. I love it. I would tell anyone who wants a real New York Slice to come here to Joe's.

The only down fall is that the lines can be INSANE, but well worth it

Many pizza joints are praised just by the nature of them being in NYC, but Joe's is definitely worthy of being in the pantheon of NYC pizza giants. The sauce reminds me of my family's homemade. I recommend grabbing a slice with fresh mozzarella or a Sicilian slice.

Joe's pizza is the best example of how simplicity is the key. There is no place in NYC where dough, tomato sauce and cheese taste better than Joe's. You can get it with toppings, but if you're here for the first time make sure you try the plain cheese slice. The interior here is not something everybody will like. if you ask me, it just screams New York. Staff is on point, very fast and effective. Don't stall when it's your turn and don't expect small talk from them as well, just efficiency. Prices are just great. Subway ride = slice of cheese; the way it should be.

This is hands down, IMO, the best pizza in NYC. I've been eating Joe's since well before it moved down the block (a rumored lease dispute with a greedy landlord is the rumor moved them a few doors down). I have not been able to find a better slice anywhere. If you are a tourist you will appreciate this. If you are a resident you will cherish it.
