John Harvard's Brew House, Lake Grove, New York, Health Food Restaurant Details

I absolutely LOVE John Harvard's! My family, friends and I have been enjoying this pub for years, and my boyfriend and I come here quite often.

Their beer is brewed in house and is delicious! As the list updates often, you get to sample a variety of seasonal brews each time you go.

As a vegan, I love that they offer a selection of salads, a hummus appetizer AND a VEGAN BURGER! I order it with a side of veggies. Really yummy!

The staff is friendly and knowledgable, and they make you feel like a valued part of their family.

I highly recommend John Harvard's to anyone who loves beer, good food and a quiet atmosphere!

I like the old-timey feel and the pub atmosphere. Pretty good food and excellent service. Very yummy drinks. More of a hangout with beers and appetizers place... but who doesn't love that?

Not the best food I've ever had but a pretty okay place. I was at first pretty reluctant to go here since I actually was looking at the Suffolk Public Health website and it had a lot of violations in the food/restaurant inspections. But hey, this was the only place that was open after 10pm and I was really craving some good BURGERS.

I was a bit annoyed that we waited for so long but I guess it was expected. We got our table about 11:15pm and they were saying kitchens close around 11:30p. I just really wanted to sit! I didn't find the waiting area until I turned the corner after the entrance! I guess they assume that we would head straight to the bar haha. First impression, not good.

Crystal Ship wasn't really a good brew for me. I'm not that into very strong or bitter. It could have been stronger but i'm not such a fan. I was glad at least the appetizer, quesadilla was very hot in temperature so at least we knew the food was made fresh. Not the greatest but it beats the old frozen ones you buy at a grocery store. It wasn't a skinny quesadilla either.

I ordered the Chipotle burger and boy..was it messy! This burger was also hot off the grill. I appreciated that! There was way too much BBQ sauce..I'm glad it was at least tasty though! I had a lot of fun licking it off my fingers haha!! However, it was soaking my burger bun. If it was a regular bun instead of like a kaiser roll, I would have disliked it very much. Smart alternative! Fries were also hot to touch and were yummy and delicious.

I gave a 3 because, it was good but not so special!

Great staff, especially if you're a regular. The selection is always good. Very good crafty brews. PUMPKIN is definitely the best. You MUST try it and buy as much as you can!

We came in and were seated very quickly. This is where the horror began. The waiter was sweet but young. He got our drinks and we had to prompt him to take an appetizer order. The food came out and they had already screwed up my calamari. We should have taken warning then but of course we didn't. Once the appetizer was delivered by the bus person the waiter was no where to be found for the next ten min until we had to get up and find the first person to help summon him.

The waiter ran out and finally got our order. We both ordered med rare burgers. My other half got the gorgonzola burger I got a reg cheeseburger with mash potatoes instead of fries. Hard to screw up right??

It took about twenty min to get our food and of course it was all sorts of messed up. My cheeseburger had fries all over it. The best part was my other half got a plate with some sort of white stuff caked across the side of the plate. At this point we asked for the manager.

The manager was very nice but not very great. He had to be instructed to get us new drinks since we were there for an hour or more and never had our drinks refilled. Nothing was cleared off our table not even by the manger.We were surrounded by dirty plates and cups when he came and he didn't even blink to take them.

He promptly took the plate that had the white smear and said he'd get us another burger. The burger came out three minutes later raw. At this point we were laughing because no place can be this stupid. We thought we were on bar rescue or something. Finally finding the waiter we just told the waiter we give up please bring the bill.

The manger was so nice.(sarcasm) to take the raw burger off the bill. We understand why the place was empty.

Please no one ever go here.

My other half has been throwing up almost the entire trio home.
Spoke with the manger who was concerned. Def never again.
