This location used to be a different mexican restaurant, I can't remember the name but it was recently (~2-3 months ago) closed and reopened under new management. It's now basically the exact same thing as the Taqueria Chapala Jalisco on McCullough and Dewey, which I LOVE! The older reviews are for the last ownership, which was apparently pretty bad but this place is now on point IMO. Love the Gorditas and the breakfast tacos. Everything I've had has been delicious and affordable, highly reccomended

I ordered the gorditas plate. Come with 2 gorditas, rice, beans and tortillas. The rice was just disgusting! Who serves their customers rice who has been sitting there for a while. Since the top part was hard and bottom part was soft. So most likely microwaves as well. A lot of it tasted flavorless!! Needed salt! Only 1 waitress at the time we went. I don't recommend it at all!!!

I ordered a Carne Guisada taco today and found a dead fly in my taco ! I couldn't believe it , Johnny's use to be my favorite taco place in San Antonio , but after finding that large fly in my taco , I made my family stop eating and took the tacos back to the restaurant . Come to find out there was another fly in my daughters taco that the restaurant found and they only offered to refund for the two out of five tacos that I bought. I was shocked about not only the tacos but about the service , I will never return , afters decades of coming . BUYER BEWARE !!

Very good service. The waitstaff and decorum make one feel as if they are experiencing a meal in the comfort of one's home. The Cabrito was boiled and then deep fried to give it a crispy texture. The owners uncle raises the restaurants goats and sheep. Very different and quite good.

Their caldo here is amazing. ( I like mine with extra lime:p)). Breakfast tacos are pretty good too (bean/bacon/cheese &potato/egg). Great customer service. I definately recommended it!
