An "interesting dining adventure awaits" at this River North and Lincoln Park duo, the former mainly vegan, the latter raw, where those "in the mood" to go veggie are "not let down" by the "innovative" fare; still, doubters declare "nothing on the menu stands out", and what's "reasonable" to some is "pricey" to others, but supporters are soothed by the solid "customer service" and laid-back atmosphere.

Great Vegan desserts. This place is definitely worth trying. This is not an overtly relaxed environment, it has black napkins and is a little stuffy. The dinners are overpriced and a little underportioned, although they are original dish ideas and have many gluten-free dishes and options. I came here for coffee and the vegan deserts and I recomned you do the same as I feel they are more worth the price than the full dinners are.

Delicious food in a friendly casual environment. Great location for plant based food options. Feels good to go to a restaurant where one can eat anything from the menu. Crab cakes, pasta primvera and guacamole were delicious. Ginger beer is great. Overall good food choice close to Chicago Magnificent Mile.

My wife and I must agree wholeheartedly with n k, "This menu is so old, boring, and outdated - it never changes - and the service, usually awful." And we haven't eaten there since our last visit to Chicago a year ago. So, if it seems outdated to us I can't imagine how stale it must seem to regulars. Also as n k pointed out, "How about some tempeh, or quinoa, or dishes without wheat/seitan, corn, or soy cheese/soy meat?" As a male vegetarian I try to limit my soy intake to only a few times a week, but like to include as much protein as possible in every meal. How about more beans and nuts? And I don't just mean black or pinto beans. Again, to agree with n k, "Actually use fruit and vegetables for a much more colorful, tasty menu, instead of charging extra for them on the side." Also, one of n k's most important points, "It may surprise you to know most people are trying to avoid soy, corn, and wheat/seitan because of GMOs, of which you are serving." We can not agree more. Any self respecting vegetarian/vegan restaurant would do everything in their power to not poison their patrons with GMO's. As for the service, it had been fairly good the first five days of our stay in Chicago, but Saturday afternoon afternoon I made the nearly one mile walk from the hotel alone and made the mistake of asking to be seated out side on a beautiful day. Big mistake. After recieving a menu, I waited for over ten minutes and still had not seen anyone interested in taking my order. And lets be clear, they were not busy in the least. After watching a group of people go inside and still not having my order taken, I could only assume that they were not interested in my business. Even though they had been happy to collect well over $200 worth of our money over the last five days. I finally just left still hungry and walked the mile back to the hotel. Don't get me wrong, as a vegetarian of 20+ years I appreciate any restaurant that doesn't serve meats. However, if Karyn's Cooked doesn't step it up by our next visit to Chicago we won't be again visiting them.

I trekked here because they do gluten free food, I found it a little disappointing. Menu is way overpriced. I got a prima vera on gluten free pasta - pasta was perfectly cooked (not easy on GF) but by prima vera - they had added a bit of broccoli and a sliver of mushroom. A vegan primavera could easily be made from soy cream or a nut cream - for $14 or whatever it was it was a total rip off. But I didn't get sick - so at least they take care with gluten free.

This menu is so old, boring, and outdated - it never changes - and the service, usually awful. How about some tempeh, or quinoa, or dishes without wheat/seitan, corn, or soy cheese/soy meat? Get creative. Change things up. Actually use fruit and vegetables for a much more colorful, tasty menu, instead of charging extra for them on the side. Change with the times. It may surprise you to know most people are trying to avoid soy, corn, and wheat/seitan because of GMOs, of which you are serving. As one reviewer pointed out – “Also, it would be great if a healthy veggie restaurant also honored the Non-GMO diet.“ Resting on your laurels and failing miserably. I’m a walk away and now just walk past.
