Kelly's Tavern, Chesapeake, Virginia Restaurant Details

Food:

I like this place, the food is great and I've always had great customer service my only complaint is it smells like a ashtray. I know they smoke in the bar but u smell it as soon as u walk through the door. Overall good place.

The place smelled like a ashtray. Service was ok. food looked and tasted as if my 10 year old fixed it for me. Will not be going back. Waitress spilled our drinks on my 10 year old.

This is a great place. Been going there for a while and have made good friends with staff and patrons love that smokers have at least one place to go and are welcomed.

This place has been a hang out for me for going on a year now. Its a good place for a drink or a bite to eat. Now the place is smokey, mainly because the bar is a smoking area. The food rates about average, and the drinks are not the best value, but the bartenders are the reason I keep going back they are take care of there customers very well and are good people to talk to. This is not the place to get smashed at, but good for a few drinks with friends.

I got take out a couple of nights ago and was very disappointed with my experience. I only went in as far as the hostess podium, but the entire place stunk like smoke. The hostess was multi-tasking as a waitress and when she went in the back to run my credit card, she forgot about me. By the time I got home (5 minutes away), my food was cold and soggy. I had to reheat it in the toaster oven, and even then it wasn't very good. Also, there was a couple who came in after me who were put on a waiting list despite at least 10 open tables. I won't be returning to this restaurant.

As an aside, about 2-3 years ago I went to the Kelly's tavern in Newport News and it was fine, but it was late night and I was drinking and didn't order any food.
