So, I live in Orange County California. All of my friends know that I love ramen, so they ask me, "Hey, where's the closest place that has good ramen?" and I tell them "Kiwami Ramen in Honolulu. I swear, that's the closest place that has good ramen."

Just to give you an idea of how good this place is, the last Honolulu trip I did with my wife was a 4 day, 3 night trip, and we ate here 4 times. In case you are wondering, yes, every lunch we ate during our visit was here at Kiwami Ramen, and no, I did not have to beg my wife every single time I wanted to eat here. We both couldn't wait to eat here every day.

The recommended dishes are any of the tsukemen dishes. Tsukemen is ramen noodles on the side, with a concentrated soup broth for dipping. You just dip the noodles in the soup and eat the noodles. It's a good alternative to ramen when the weather is hot because the soup is not that hot, and you can order your noodles cold. Since it's always hot in Hawaii, the tsukemen is highly recommended.

My favorite is the ume-shio tsukemen. Oh my God. Before eating here, I thought shio ramen was basically "no flavor" ramen because that has been my experience with shio ramen. The ume-shio tsukemen is a good example of what a shio ramen should taste like. Boy, this shio ramen makes me feel like I've been living in a hole.

The shoyu, and piri-kara shoyu tsukemen is awesome as well. The soup for all of the tsukemen dishes are great. The noodles are top notch as well. Nice and robust.

This place is also never so crowded that you cannot get a seat at the bar. The service is excellent and quick, and the prices are very friendly.

They closed for a while, and I was distraught about this news, but they are moving to a new location on Keeaumoku, so that is a relief. This place serves high quality ramen. Very highly recommended.

The name is Kissaten now and it's on the lower level (basement) of this shopping center, so it's a bit hard to find. Very good and affordable eat along Waikiki.

Probably the best ramen bar I've ever been to. My girlfriend and I went there twice while we were in Hawaii and both times we couldn't believe the meal was that good. The miso ramen and the curry ramen were both tasty and a good way to end the day of walking around and seeing the sites.

I had the soy based ramen with chicken. IMO 10 times better than some of the "upscale" ramen shops around Waikiki.
