I really am sorry that I have to write this review.......

My husband and I had dinner at La Tavoloa on Friday night. First, the hostess did not appreciate it when I requested not to be seated next to the bathroom and was put off when I requested a two person table rather than taking up a 4 person table.

We should have requested Chris as our server- that was our mistake.

I did ask for the fish to be well done and seared - it came out warm at best with not indication of being well done.

We have never had a bad meal at La Tavola- however, this was very disappointing evening.

First review I've ever submitted anywhere, I've been there several times. Its always excellent service and great food. I don't know where these other folks went, but it was not the La Tavola I have experienced.
Try it, and decide for yourself

I am editing my previous review. I have been coming to La Tavola a for a few years now and have seen some places where they need to improve (customer service mainly). But I decided to go back after my last attempt to see if they'd have one more chance and I am glad I did.

The food was great, I actually ate way too much. I've never had an issue with the food either. Took the inlaws and family there a few months back and everyone loved it. This tine the server was very attentive. And all in all, no complaints.

I'd recommend they make it obvious their. BYOB because the couple next to us was upset they couldn't order wine. I'd also suggest having a hostess. Many times no one answers the phone and its usually a server who will seat you.

Good Service. Overpriced. Questionable freshness/quality. Made daughter sick. Will not be returning.

I live in the area (walking distance) and heard good things so I decided to take my teenage daughter there to treat her to a "fancy" Italian meal after spending a long day out and about. The waiter was very good, nice, and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a fried calamari appetizer and the he recommended upgrading (+$4) to the diavolo sauce. We enjoyed it. Not being a fan of red sauce, my daughter wanted chicken Alfredo, which, at the time, was listed on the online menu. However, after not finding it on the menu, in restaurant, we were told they no longer make Alfredo sauce. The special was swordfish and she opted for that over pasta with a white wine sauce. I went with the chicken marsala. I finished mine and she ate half of hers. By the time we arrived home she was suffering from severe intestinal discomfort. Within a couple hours she had purged the entire meal (from both ends) and was relieved. I felt terrible for her and was quite disappointed that I spent $30 on a meal that ended up making her sick. I suspect the swordfish was less than fresh, and therefore on special.

All in all, my food was OK, but I don't feel it lived up to the $80 price (including tip) for an appetizer, two dinners, two cannoli, and water (it is BYOB). I will not be returning.

The menu is composite of very authentic tried-and-tested simplicity and creative genius for the more adventurous. The dishes are very accurately described, wonderfully prepared, and there is a lot to choose from, so bring your reading glasses and be prepared to waffle back and forth on your selection. People love this place, and they come back often, and sometimes really good food takes time to prepare, so arrive early if you are under a time constraint.
