A "couple of bottles" and you're set at these "white-tablecloth" Rittenhouse BYOs whose "delicious" Italian "classics", "reasonable" prices and "instant" service appeal to "pre-theater" crowds, "date-nighters" or "frat boys and their dates", who all "pack in like sardines"; Ovest (West) has a "pleasant" garden and accepts cards, while the bistro is cash-only.

Usually I've been disappointed by offerings during restaurant week, but La Viola has restored my hope. Today a friend and I had a delectable lunch that was perfect from start to finish--the best meal and service I've had during restaurant week in years. For one thing, La Viola offered an extensive list of choices, not just the limited fare we've found at other restaurants during Restaurant Week. We had grilled calamari for a starter, veal with crab meat as an entree, tiramisu for dessert, and cappuccino--all absolutely delicious--for the Restaurant Week price of $20. Bravo, La Viola. We'll be back. This is the way to thank regular customers and to lure new ones. Other restaurants should take a page from La Viola's book.

One of the best byob in Philadelphia. The food is good, the portions are appropriate and the service is good (though sometimes rushed). This is a place I go to frequently.

Fantastic in every way, grilled calamari, risotto, fish of the day. And the desserts! Mama Mia!

Went this Friday with about 15 people. We made the reservation for 8.. And two hours later we were still waiting - finally we were told to go across the street but as we were walking we noticed a party of 36 being seated. After a lot of frustration and back and forth we finally got seated. The waiter (we never did catch his name) was a complete life saver! He was the one who actually got us our seats and everything. He was funny and polite and very attentive - he definitely saved the day. He truly was amazing and an absolute charm! Left him an extra tip on the way out. We shall be back for more food! Hopefully without the 2 hour run around.

Great service. Perfect specials. Real deal authentic pasta. Couldn't be better w/ BYOB (bring your own wine to complement your food).
