"If you're a kosher carnivore", this Theater District French "staple" comes across with "excellent steaks" that pass muster with the highest authority; maybe the service "doesn't match" the food quality and the surrounds are "forgettable", but it's generally "packed" all the same.

Amazing food. True "French" feel. Can't wait to go back!

The service was atrocious. Our server behaved as though we were a nuisance to him. He never checked on us after our food was delivered. The steaks were under cooked from what we requested and it took about 30 minutes to let the kitchen know because it was impossible to get any staff's attention. Our server basically disappeared for half an hour. The steak returned undercooked a second time. The steaks are better at Outback, no lie. Not worth the price tag one bit. This was the worst service we received the entire time we visited New York. I will also mention there were several other customers seated next to us that also complained about the horrible service. DO NOT EAT HERE unless you like to be treated like a second class citizen.

I really feel sorry for the butcher and the chef. The steak should be amazing. It's a great cut of meat, and it's cooked perfectly.
HOWEVER, the service in this place never fails to disappoint. I have never gotten my steak while it was still HOT. Warm is the best you can hope for.
The last time I went there, I was with a group of all married religious guys, and the hostess claimed someone "grabbed her." Manager came over accusing us; walked away; and then refused to come speak to us when we asked for him. What kind of manager refuses to talk to a table of paying customers? Jonathan from Le Marais, that's who.
Other fun experiences included watching the table next to me switch parties 3-4 times because there was a leak above that table. That didn't stop the staff from seating one party after another. On other occasions, my entire table of 10 people had to wait 20 minutes for ketchup. They bring food without plates. They bring a tiny container of shallot sauce for 8 people, and claim it's extra to bring for everyone lollllll. I can't imagine there are a lot of places with worse service than Le Marais. It's truly amazing how awful their staff is at their jobs. Enjoy.

"This kosher steakhouse is the greatest bang for the buck in the Manhattan kosher scene. Their frites are ""to die for"", and their Steak au poivre is the finest in the city. ALL steaks are either wet or dry aged. They are consistently excellent and always my first choice for Manhattan dining."

I visited Le Marias on 9/16/14 and was blown away, as usual. I got seated as soon as I arrived, and a waiter was there to help take my order. We got 2 pepper crusted steaks. I must say this is the best steak out there in the Kosher world. It came with large portions of side dishes and was very filling. I give this place 6/5 stars!!!!!
