This West Nashville roadhouse slinging quintessential Southern cuisine (fried chicken and biscuits to die for, smoky, tender pulled pork) is a tradition that everyone must experience; with friendly staffers, fair prices and a country vibe, it's no wonder it can get too crowded, but the eclectic on-site shops keep you entertained while you wait for a table.

I visited early this past Sunday (4/10/2016) with a friend, to beat the "lunch" crowd. pulled in to the gravel parking lot found plenty of parking spaces. Proceeded in to ask for seating. On the way to the entrance, noticed people eating from plastic bags sitting outside, at grey weathered picnic tables (odd.... I thought)

Walked inside and had to begin the greeting process with two giggling teen hostesses. I asked for a table for two and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. After briefly looking around, I jokingly asked if they needed help bussing the tables???

45 minutes was a bit much to wait for seating at that time of day, considering all the other dining options within a very short drive.

The hostess sincerely tried to suggest another option for us. We could place an to go order (ready in 15 - 20 minutes) and go outside to eat it on the gray weathered picnic table outside....... Aha! The mystery of the people eating from plastic bags (noted on my walk to the entrance) was now solved.

HARD PASS on eating cold food from plastic bags outside a restaurant. Usually..... you aren't required to pay full retail for that experience.

One would think that, after 60 famous years (website) serving the Nashville community, adequate seating would be enhanced to accommodate the average number of customers expected each day, by now...... or at the very least a covered picnic table area to ward off rain and other weather elements.

In a time of popular franchise/ chain options........... customer retention is key to local business longevity, as is word of mouth. I could not in good conscience recommend this establishment for anything other than a long drive to not much else, save disappointment. We did enjoy a great conversation and brunch afterwards at McDonalds....... Hey, at least they were friendly and greeted us when we walked through their doorway.

In short; I do my best to shop local and support those business owners over corporate. Such a shame this business seems to have little interest in returning customers.

details are sometimes forgotten by the impact of a great experience. A bad experience can never be made up for if the customer doesn't return............. Good luck with that

Found the Loveless Cafe online while looking for restaurants before my wife and I took a trip to Nashville and boy am I glad I did!

While pulling up I didn't think much of the exterior until I walked in and saw a nicely renovated place with autographs on the walls from nearly 30 years worth of country music acts. We had a roughly 45 minute wait (a testament to how good the food is!) that we spent sitting on a bench outside watching a family play Corn Hole.

Once inside our waiter Matt was attentive and really nice. He had a personality with out being overbearing and took really good care of us.

Their signature item is biscuits - they are served with everything. The biscuits were good, not amazing but nothing bad to say about them. Their jam on the other hand was amazing! For our main course my wife and I both ordered the fried chicken. It was the best fried chicken I have ever had. It was AMAZING.

If I didn't live a 13 hour drive away I would be a regular here.

This is by far the best "traditional" southern food I have ever eaten. The biscuits are to die for. The homemade jams were super yummy. The fried chicken and the meatloaf was the best I have ever had. The banana pudding was also the best I have ever had. The wait staff was super nice and gave us biscuits to go. I went around 5pm and the wait was about 90 minutes, but worth every minute. Don't expect too much from the sides, but you shouldn't be going here for the sides. The main dish and the biscuits were more than enough to please this fat boy.

Took my family who were visiting to try some good southern food! We were ready to wait for it. So our buzzer goes off we came to the counter and they had two buzzers going on at once. So they sat the other folks and the hostess was rude and unapologetic about it and told us we had to wait. The other manager was not friendly either. Came back to check on status (trying to smile so they won't spit on our food) she continued to have a bad attitude and told me I still had to wait... The worst part is that their patio sitting was completely empty!!!! The food was not worth the wait or the attitude. 1st and last time I go to Loveless cafe. Next time will go to Monels or Arnold's! They are far better overall!!!
