It's "quite the scene" at this "packed" SoHo cellar seafooder where the "fresh" catch is "perfectly cooked" and on par with the "classy", "cruise-ship" decor; though tabs are steep and the "ebullient", "mixed-age" crowd can kick up a racket, most consider it an "all-around winner."

Restaurant Week Fail. I don't know why I bother with this month-long obscenity. It's almost always a failure. There are only a few exceptions to this bad track record, but Lure is not one of them.

Let's make this short. I started with the Tempura Shrimp(Spicy Sesame Mayo), which was overcooked. The shrimp was rubbery and tough to chew. Moving onto my entree: the Nori Crusted Tuna(Garlic Fried Rice, Broccoli, Citrus Emulsion); the tuna did not taste fresh and with the crust, it was akin to eating bland protein wrapped in sandpaper. Not mouth friendly. The last course, the Warm Chocolate Cake(Salted Caramel Ice Cream / Popcorn Brittle), seemed to be a favorite among the group, but I thought it was extremely rich for my taste. The ice cream helped a bit, but the popcorn was confusing and unnecessary.

As a seafood restaurant, they are ironically untalented in cooking ocean specimens. I'm semi-OK with the fact that I tried it at Restaurant Week prices because otherwise, it would have cost close to $100 for the same unworthy meal.

The food was alright and came quickly. However, the prices on the menu posted at the door were different once we got to the table, the service was absent and the music was incredibly loud. I asked our server if the music could be turned down, she said yes but they never did turn it down. It could be a good place if the service was better and it didn't feel like an Abercrombie store with the music being uncomfortably loud.

Love this place! Awesome date spot. Try the silk road cocktail (elderflower, sake, lychee...) and the miso salmon sushi roll is delicious! Super fresh fish and a really great atmosphere. Rebecca the bartender is a sweetheart.

I wanted to try this place for quite a while finally checked it over with few of my colleagues. I had called a day before to do a table reservation they gave a hard time as they said they were booked so I moved to a different time slot.

When we arrived almost half of the restaurant was empty and it remained like that till the time we left either they had a lot of cancellations or they were just trying to build a hype.

The place has good decor and I like the dim light ambience here at Lure.

We tried different kind of oysters for appetizers. Coming to main course Roasted cod and my colleagues had the organic chicken and texas burger.Apart from Texas Burger I felt the portions was really small considering it was an entree and everything was in $25-$30 price range. Food just tasted average nothing to brag about. The ambience and service was good hence the three stars.

I quite like the Lure Fishbar. I've been a few times and I will go back, even though I've only given it 3 stars, so I'll explain.

The decor is really interesting - it's like luxury yacht might be (I'm guessing), the lighting is good and there's a reasonable mood. The interiors and the brand set the standard high but the food is variable and thats why it only gets 3 stars overall.

We had Rhode Island Blonde oysters and they were excellent. The sashimi was also good and the sushi rolls were good. The burger (yes there is a burger - off the menu, but everyone should ask for it) is excellent - really first class. But the french fries it comes with aren't so good.

The shrimp tempura consistently lets the place down, everyone orders it and it's just not good enough - tempura should be a lightly and airy but it's not - it's brown and stodgy and covers cheap fish meat that is then drizzled in pink sauce, it's not nice. There is a crab fishcake that needs a new recipe too.

Lure has promise but it needs a bit of help in the menu. It's a fun place though and visitors will like the decor, so do't write it off. But it's not the place to go for a gourmet, culinary experience.
