Delicious, down-home breakfast is the order of the day at this cute, kitschy cow-bedecked morning mecca in Smithtown cooking up superb eggs, pancakes and French toast in ways you can only dream about – and the menu's endless choices extend to equally stupendous lunch to boot; ridiculously long waits are common, though helpful servers are equipped to handle the hungry herds; P.S. cash only.

Only accepts cash! Honestly, the food is excellent, but I'm tired of running into these niche businesses that refuse to accept a modern form of payment. They don't even have an ATM on site; you have to walk across the street to the CVS to get cash in the middle of your meal.

After such an extended wait, my expectations were high. But service was harried, the food was fine but somewhat unremarkable, and they don't take credit cards. Not going to rush back.

For the very few haters on this page there are thousands and thousands of Lovers!!! We LOVE Maureens Kitchen, Food, Staff and super friendly Owners!!!
We only wish Long Beach had one here :) One can dream...

So, I work close by Maureens Kitchen and we order at least 1 to 2x per week. A co-worker placed our order and went to pick it up one of the orders was wrong. (mine if course!) I ordered the soup and sandwich combo special which is listed on a recording of the daily specials. Fresh Mozz Tomato and Basil) I got some sort of greasy pastrami Sandwich with no soup. Anyway, I called and explained nicely that I had gotten the wrong sandwich and I would like to get the correct one. Woman was rude. She told me she was the one who took the order and my co-worker asked for the combo. I was polite and said well maybe there was a misunderstanding. I asked my co-worker what she said and she DEF said the soup and sandwich. So I go back with the greasy pastrami (or whatever) Sandwich. And woman who took the phone order was actually arguing we me about what my co-worker said over the phone. I told her my co-worker said the soup and sandwich combo...she rudely said well we have a combo. and thats what you got but I'll make you a new one. Owner was nice and apoligized to me for the misunderstanding which I thought was nice..I wish I could have said the about the rude counter woman who took the phone order. After all that I get back to my work...AND Maureen is know for the oversizes stuffed sandwiched........I get 2 of the thinest slices or Mozzella some tomato a few leaved of basil with a styrofoam coffe cup of soup. THIS IS WHAT I PAID $14 FOR? I know I got a skimpy sandwich out of spite. I have frequented Maureen because I work locally and its conveinient. BUT after this experience I will NEVER go back. I'd rather go the bagel place up the road. You will never get an attitude there!

Dont know what all the hype is about, been here 3 times, its diner food. Its crowded, no elbow room, and employees running around like crazy with short answers and forgetting alot. Understaffed maybe I dont know. I asked the waitress why dont they have an ATM in here since they dont take cards? Her answer, I just work here. I said thats why Im asking you. I said it would be convenient and we'd come here more often. Her reply, does it look like we are hurting? referencing to the line at the door. Good answer smart waitress. We wont be going there anymore. The two stars are for the food.
