This place has been here for as long as I can remember and is still going quite strong. A typical dive bar, you won't find craft beer or fancy drinks here. Prices are exceedingly low — think $8 pizza and $1 jello shots. Come drunk, share a pitcher and a bite, have a blast. Service is friendly and efficient.

Millie & Al's is a go-to AdMo establishment for the low-key crowd that just wants some decent drink prices and a little bit of breathing room. An added bonus? Jello shots.

Super cheap pitchers of Natty Bo and $1 Dixie cup Jell-O shots when the skeleton dances! If that doesn't sound fun to you, this probably isn't your type of place. Millie & Al's really puts the "dive" in dive bar, with its kitschy interiors, eclectic crowd, unassuming menu (think chili and hot dogs) & dirt-cheap drafts. If you grow quickly tired of the shiny-faced, sperry-sporting, are-you-even-21 crowds of kids that frequent the other late-night bars & clubs of Adams Morgan, then Millie & Al's is the place for you. Expect spontaneous conversations with strangers, the occasional classic rock singalong, awesome bartenders, and few guys just watching the game (doesn't matter which one) no matter how late it is.

It's fine. Impossible to hear anyone or breathe when it's crowded. Kind of divey in a homey way. We went on a hot night and it was like an oven inside. Cheap Dixie-cup Jell-o shots.

The key to Millie & Al's is to have the right expectations. You can tell exactly what you're going to get as soon as you see the place- dive bar with cheap beer. If this is what you're looking for, expect a great time. The staff is friendly, there is karaoke on Thursdays, and the patrons are definitely a hard drinking crowd. The food is consistently good (fried mushrooms are a nice treat, and the thin-crust pizza is as good as you will get anywhere in DC).

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" say devotees of this circa-1963, divey "neighborhood bar" in Adams Morgan known for "$1 Jell-O shots", cheap "pitchers of beer" and pizza; the "relaxed" vibe lures a "funky", young crowd to a booth-lined space full of neon signs and memorabilia that "looks interesting when you're drunk."
