There are "no pretenses" at this "traditional-style" Japanese noodle shop in the East Village, just the "charming simplicity" of "oishii" ("delicious") ramen featuring "rich", "slurp-worthy" broth, plus gyoza "just like in Tokyo"; its "tiny", "basic" space is "perpetually packed", but "fast", "friendly" servers keep things on track.

i'm not normally a huge fan of pork--i often skip the meat in my ramen bowl--but minca's chashu is DELICIOUS.

Not sure how this place is so well reviewed for just okay ramen and shove-you-off-the-table-asap service. I understand it's small and they need to turn tables, but both times I've been here, they've refused to seat me until my friend arrived (even though the room is half empty) and then the check was dropped and we were strongly advised to pay and go as soon as our bowls were cleared.
