I've been coming to Ming's Cafe since 1998. The food is outstanding and the people are so friendly. I have moved to Riverside County, but everytime I come to Bakersfield I make sure I go to Ming's Cafe

My father and I tried Ming's Cafe at lunch for the first time today. Walking in, there was only 1 other customer in the restaurant which was a bit unnerving. Bad food? Bad service? Poor health department ratings? Nope. I think this one just slipped under the radar over time.

The menu serves some classic American dishes such as Baby Beef Liver and Onion but of course also has delicious Chinese such as Kung Pao Chicken and Beef and Broccoli. The later two dishes I've tried already -- compelled to order Chinese at a Chinese restaurant! I'm looking forward to trying the Beef Liver but simultaneously anxious because low volume kitchens don't always have the freshest meats, especially with something like liver.

Service was of course very personal; we had a lovely chat with the hostess who seemed like the (co?)owner and doubled as our server. Looking forward to trying it out for a dinner service.

I'll update this if I try more menu items (and remember to review them).

Good decor, polite and attentive service, great food. Makes me wonder why anyone would bother going to Bill Lee's. If you are looking for large portion Chinese food that taste great and is cheap then look now further

Be prepared to stay for a few hours because they literally bring the food out one dish at a time with 15-30 minutes between each plate like they are cooking on a single hot plate or something. Then, we had 2 people at our table order the same side items and they got completely different food? I wish I could say the food lived up to the decor, but that would make me a liar. I won't be back. It took nearly 3 hours to order and eat dinner and we took turns watching each other eat while waiting for our food....really odd...especially considering there was only us and one other table there, so they weren't swamped or anything. The place is big enough to serve a crowd, I just wouldn't want to be there the day a crowd shows up to order-lol!
