I'v'e been to Nemesis more than a half a dozen times. And, the unique menu items that chef Micah creates have always been fabulous. She draws on an enormous, diverse, eclectic culinary past and designs her dishes almost architecturally to maximize the tastes, tones and textures of what you experience. Every taste bud will be activated and all of your pleasure neurons will light up.

The portions are small and exquisite, so big appetites will be disappointed by both the smaller portions and lack of bread not served.

The maitre de, waiter and wine steward all-in-one is Jeremiah, who despite his casual appearance and generous, folksy charm is a superb wine expert. You will always be pleased with what he recommends with the dishes.

The place is small and off the beaten city path. Don't be fooled. It's a gem of an experience and parking in front on the street is easy.

For an affordable, intimate, true gourment experience in a funky and very fun atmosphere this is the place.

A friend recommended this restaurant for authentic South African dishes following the Critical Mass bike event in Downtown Miami. I was quite surprised when we were turned down at the door. Management refused to seat my party on any tables setup outside. Specific reasons were, did not want any business from cyclists( I couldn't make this up!). Didn't even have the opportunity to tryout the menu. With that kind of service, wouldn't want to.

My new favorite restaurant in Miami.

Food: The Fig-Elicious Braised Duck Potstickers are outstanding. The Steak Stack is both a marvel to look at and tastes even better than it looks. Having said that, all I could remember when I walked out was the Willy Wonka dessert. I've eaten at 5 star restaurants from NY to Paris to Buenos Aires to Singapore. The Willy Wonka is the BEST dessert I have ever eaten. The blondie with the hot caramel filling was nuts. There was also some kind of chocolate bark. I took a bite of it, and I was initially disappointed because it was just average compared to the other two items on this dessert trio. In seconds, however, the hotness of the Peri Peri hit me, and it became my favorite thing on the plate.

Decor: The sign alerts you not to come in if you don't have a sense of humor. The place was designed to be whimsical, and they totally succeeded. The only way to describe it would be as if Cirque du Soleil and The Friar's Club had a baby.

Service: The chef brings some of the dishes to the table herself and explains them to you. What more could you want?

Former Top Chef contestant Micah Edelstein jets all over the culinary map at this pricey Downtown Eclectic, serving everything from ‘Tuscan sushi' (prosciutto, mascarpone, Gorgonzola and figs) to American bison with dark-chocolate sauce; the dining room decor is equally diverse, juxtaposing church-pew seating, batik prints and a flamboyant necktie sculpture with exposed ductwork and umbrellas suspended from the ceiling.
