A couple of friends and I were I were in Charlotte for the first time in a while and we had no clue where to go for dinner. New Zealand cafe was the only one that was open and was close so we decided to give it a shot, plus we were craving sushi. We felt bad for walking in at 9:15 pm when they closed at 10, but we thought we would have time to eat. We ended up on the waiting list, but it wasn't longer than a 10 minute wait.

The food was fresh and so delicious!
- I got the miso soup as an appetizer and it was delicious! I've gone to many restaurants, but the best miso soup I've had was at New Zealand Cafe.
- I had their tempura bento box. It was delicious as well! The shrimp was a little bit too starchy for me though.
- Next time I plan on trying their noodle dishes!!! (:

The place was small, but the atmosphere was so comfortable and inviting. It was cute! The staff was very kind and very attentive to our needs. Even though we were in the store after 10 pm, they did not rush us nor treat us any differently. Everyone worked very diligently and is very kind. We plan on coming back for our friend's birthday soon! This time we will come at an earlier time!!

This sushi restaurant is awesome. Yeah, you had to wait to be seated and served but it is totally worth it because the sushi is yummy.

The only advise is, don't come here if you're in a rush. You need to have time to spare.

I work down the road from this place and I eat there at least 2 times a week... The sushi is great... the place is small and you have to wait a while but its worth the wait....Great people that work there also

For the price you pay, this is the best sushi in town. A lot of other sushi restaurants will charge $10-15 a roll for the sushi you can get here. It's an amazing value and the staff is always really friendly and courteous. Even the sushi chefs give us a nod when we walk in and sit down. It's a small space, so it feels really intimate, but they may need to relocate soon... it has definitely gotten more popular since my husband and I discovered it a few years ago!

Amazing food, cooked to perfection. panko is always crisp and light, sushi is fresh, and taste is on par with other restaurants charging twice as much. Service was slightly slow, but did not warrant removal of a star on the review. I will surely frequent this place when I'm in the mood for a good bite and a friendly atmosphere, where the staff is serious about their food.
