When this place first opened a few years ago, taking over from the execrable Caliterra, it was a real shot in the arm for the dire Financial District dining/drinking scene. Creative, fresh takes on New England seafood, inspired upscale cocktails, and a really interesting crowd that included people not necessarily staying at the hotel. I'm quite disappointed in what it has become - service is awful, food is lackluster, and the crowd is just the usual mix of shouting finance bros you'd find at any random faux Irish pub. The space still looks striking though - I'll give the designer major kudos for bringing a taste of our Cape architecture into the city.

I had two meetings today at Nix's and feel compelled to write. I received a pleasurable experience dining and also at the bar. The meal was called Chicken-Cooked-Under-a-Brick and it was worthy of recognition - large portion, intriguingly seasoned and layered with three full baked carrots plus fresh mashed potatoes. My next meeting was at the bar with and we were greeted and served by friendly and knowledgeable Jessica who poured a sample from the beer tap to answer my question. Decided on Honkers Ale from Goose Island Beer company. Thank you to Norb and Alex for introducing me to this place!

I stay at the Hilton every year,and this time I am inclined to review. This a Hotel food outlet that wants to be something else. Food doesn't come close to the menu descriptions and the staff would rather be somewhere else at someone's party. Better choices across the street. Hotel is saddled with this leased operation. Only if you have to...

Food:

Hotel lounge bar in the Hilton just outside Financial Dist/Fan Hall area of Boston. They close early (at midnight) so go on the earlier side if you plan to check it out. They now have live bands instead of a DJ which is different for that area with no cover. Overall not a bad place to start the night on a weekend out with friends.
