I've been there about a total of 5 times over the last few years. Sometimes the service is clueless (like once the waitress walked away in mid-order, I guess she was thinking "I think you've ordered enough food". I actually had to call out "Wait, come back!"), but other times they are completely nice and on the ball. The food is consistently tasty, and interesting diversity of food available on the menu, chances are you will find what you want. And the portions are standard / large. And the wait times are decent. This is not "fast food" but a recent Friday night at 6:30PM reservation for 4 people, we ordered and were served in about 15 - 20 mins. In the context of the experience, the wait times are completely in line with what you would normally expect. A perfect time to chat with friends while you wait.

The noise level was moderate, probably due to the hard surfaces in the dining areas (separated from the bar area, which tends to be a bit crowded). Again, the noise level is completely in line with what you would expect for this kind of place.

WARNING: After they seat you, they bring cole slaw, pickles, and deep fried rye bread with pub cheese. The fried bread is addictive so I haven't touched it in a while, but you have been warned--if you take a taste, you may not be able to stop.

The French Onion soup is a favorite, lots of gooey cheese, melted over the sides, requiring the use of a knife to pry the melted crispier cheese off the sides. The soup itself tastes best when hot, which may not always be the case when served (I guess it is a long walk from the kitchen). The soup itself is good but it would be tastier if the ingredients were fresher. A perfect opportunity for the chef to improve the taste with very little increase in cost or effort.

The salt and pepper shakers could use a good cleaning, nothing worse than the greasy and dirty feel of grimy salt and pepper shakers during a meal, just before you pick up your burger with your hands.

The French Fries are crispy and good, and the burgers are quite good. Overall, a decent selection of pub food, well prepared, and served decently. It all adds up to a fairly enjoyable meal.

Improvements? Yes. First and foremost, the basic taste of the food (i.e. better, fresher ingredients), a refresh in the décor (or maybe just a good scrubbin'), and improvements in the service (better training and pep talks, asking them how to make improvements, etc.) would benefit everyone, translate to bigger tips for the wait staff, and happier and more positive reviews from customers.

Went there for dinner on 08/08/08. The service was horrible we waited 30minutes just to get drinks. The waiter completely ignored us when we wanted the drinks refilled or to place our order. We had seated reservations so they knew ahead of time how many was going to be in our party; their excuse for the poor service was that they were busy but people who had gotten there after us received their food and drinks in a timely manner. It took an hour for us to get our salads. People that were sitting at the table with us had gotten there about 1 hour after us and had their salad and their dinner to them within 15 minutes. After 1 1/2 hours without the food we ordered we cancelled the order and went to McDonalds. Not only did they give us poor service the manager was quite rude when we told her how long we had been waiting and that we would like the check. Another 10 minute wait just for them to finally deceide to bring us the check. Nope they did not even give us a break on the check to apologize for the service. Needless to say this was my first and last time to go to Old Street Pub.
