04/02/2012 5:39 pmSo, given its complexity, it is very very hard to cook Macrobiotic. It is therefore truly amazing to me how good they make everything taste at Ozu. It is one of the few remaining Macrobiotic restaurants in NYC -- there used to be at least 3 that I knew of (the other 2 were downtown), but they shut down shortly after 9-11. I hope they stay around a long, long time. |

03/16/2012 12:10 pmThis is one of the best, balanced healthy places to eat on the Upper West Side. The food is tasty, high-quality but not pretentious, with good ingredients. I always walk out of there after a meal feeling comfortable, cheerful, and well-fed (not starved as in a place like Zen Palate). Service is fine, and the atmosphere is comfortable, although as a friend pointed out, some of the tables are rather close together. |
