What you want in a steakhouse is what's on offer at this chain delivering ginormous cuts and huge lobsters in nostalgic, caricature-adorned digs; service swings from caring to resentful, but that makes no difference to the old boys who say if I could afford to go every day, I would; P.S. the 1926 original is at 837 Second Avenue.

Great meal and service. I went with my Parents to the Palm. Our Hotel suggested it on a list of nearby steakhouses. We went at 11:48 AM and they seated us immediately despite them opening at 12:00 PM. We were the only people in the restaurant due to the bad weather. Our waiter Yavor was impeccable. He was very knowledgeable about the restaurant's history and it's food. He kept checking up on us throughout the meal. All three of us enjoyed our meals, and would most definitely come back again.

Their restaurant week menu is pretty good if you're looking for a dinner date that isn't over the top fancy.

Not the same. Food and Service are downhill. It's not The Palm anymore. It's turned into McDonalds

The Palm is both everything that is right and everything that is wrong with a great steak restaurant all rolled into one. Unfortunately, the classic, white table-cloth vibe and trademark decor of celebrity caricatures who have dined there no longer make up for over-priced steak and sides that simply aren't as good as some of their competitors today.

Here's the thing though, it's still remarkably good, the only problem is that you're paying for exceptional. It's still an institution, well worth visiting, just probably not returning to.
