This place used to be pretty great, but failed miserably this past weekend.

Got the grilled chicken taco salad, which used to be a reasonably sized entree, even recommended it to my friends who were with me. Pancho Villa's should be absolutely embarrassed by what they served us. The thing was the size of a coffee mug with maybe a single chicken nugget-sized portion of chicken in it, hardly any lettuce. God, it was pathetic. They covered the whole plate in a thin layer of their gross filler refried beans and rice. I was embarrassed for recommending it.

They should be ashamed.

Also, the margarita was awful too. I've never tasted a saltier drink, and I'm not talking about the salt on the rim, I mean, it literally tasted like they spilled a salt shaker's worth of salt in the drink. It didn't taste tart, or limey, or boozy, only salty.

Sangria was as sugary as a regular coke.

Only bright spots were: great guacamole, even made at the table; our waiter was on top of things, kept the great chips and salsa coming; singing happy birthday was pretty great, dessert was good.

But seriously, you'd think this place had never seen a busy night before. Whole staff seemed to be freaking out over what really didn't seem like an extreme number of people.

Aside from the busy night, there was absolutely no excuse for the extreme downsizing of entrees and awful quality of drinks. Used to be something of a regular, won't be going back.

From when I used to visit Long Island weekly, this was the go-to Mexican joint. Large portions and excellent drink choices will have you leaving with the need to loosen your belt by a notch or 5. Gets quite crowded on weekends with any popular eatery in highly populated areas. You can find this excellent location right off the beaten path of the center of town where all the action takes place.

Their food is as old as the person they named their restaurant after. No flavor, tasteless. I wanted to throw up on the food even though it already looked like throw up. Never go here under any any circumstances, you are better off in taco bell. Even better, nothing like homemade food.

They didn't get that #1 margarita on LI rating for nothing! Amazing! Outstanding Mexican food. It's a big "gringoized", but still very tasty. Get the chile rellano with no meat...outrageusly good!
