04/29/2015 7:48 pmIt "doesn't get more old-school" than this 70-plus-year-old Midtown "throwback", a "favorite of Sinatra's" that still purveys "delicious" Neapolitan cooking and "quality service"; maybe it could use a "refresh", but the "heaping" portions and Theater District proximity are fine as is. |

03/29/2015 10:26 amThis is one of the fine Italian restaurant in Midtown West Manhattan and it is right by work, perfect for a work function. The restaurant is famous among celebrities, including Frank Sinatra. I figured if Sinatra loved it, why shouldn't I? Well, I ended up really liking it. |

03/22/2015 3:42 pmIf you cut the tongue out of an old shoe and wrap it around a fistful of sawdust, that would pretty much approximate the "Veal Rollatine Marsala" that adorned my plate, sinking into a marsala sauce that itself was barely edible because of the huge amount of salt that had been dumped into it. The forgettable dessert was scooped up and plopped down as in a hash house. And I had never before imagined that one could ruin espresso so skillfully. The entire presentation was uninspired, epitomized by a tasteless, silly molded potato-thing with a sprig of microgreen sticking out of its "head," sitting on the plate and overlooking the mess like a brain-dead R2D2. The crowded, cramped, and noisy quarters added to the mystery of why this place should remain on any list of desirable restaurants. I can get better Italian food than this five miles from home at one third the price--and so can Frank Sinatra. I feel that I was made a patsy for Patsy's by a facade of fine dining that delivered none of the reality except price. |

03/13/2015 10:24 amFood was fantastic, service was A+ and Sal was very welcoming. We had a party of 10 including two young kids and he and his staff made us feel as important as a celebrity. Stories of the past about Sinatra and other celebs was icing on the cake. Thanks Sal....we will be back. |

03/04/2015 4:02 amAmazing italian restaurant. Old school. Atmosphere, service, food, all wonderful. I had the sausage and peppers. Maybe the best I've ever had, I was swooning. Only ding they get is that we had a reservation and still had to wait 25 mins it was so busy. |

01/08/2015 7:38 amWe went to Patsy’s last week and it was an incredible disappointment. This is the second time I have been to Patsy’s. The last time was in 2010. When we went in 2010, it was excellent. We were greeted warmly, treated well and were assisted by the server in making the choices for our meal. When we went last week, however, things had changed greatly. First of all, we were “greeted” by an incredibly rude man. My fiancé was wearing a hat and the man all but yelled at him that no hats were allowed in the dining room. Please be advised, I have no problem with no hats in the dining room. I do, however, have a problem with being snapped at by a rude man when he could have just as easily told us politely. Beyond that, our server was not much help at all. He didn’t even tell us about the specials of the day until after we had ordered our appetizer. When he did finally tell us (because we asked), we said we would have ordered the special if we hadn’t already ordered a different appetizer and he said that it was no problem since he hadn’t put the order for the appetizer in yet. When we asked his opinion on the best things on the menu he basically said everything was good and was not much help, at all. Also, he walked around the dining room with a towel draped over his forearm which he literally used to wipe his nose with. When we received our appetizer, which was a Burata cheese dish, it was delicious. Our entrees, however, were terribly disappointing. We ordered the Bucatini all’Amatriciana and the Penne alla Vodka. They were both very bland. We kept adding cheese to compensate for the lack of flavor but were not able to make it much better. I am not Italian and I can make a better Amatriciana and Vodka sauce than Patsy’s. I think there are two problems with Patsy’s...first, because of the fact that they are such a well-known, “famous” restaurant supported by Frank Sinatra, they have no need to excel. Second, because of their location they will have business for a long time to come - there is no need for improvement. Also, the clientele seems to be primarily tourists who don’t know any better. To his credit, the chef did come out and ask if we were enjoying ourselves. But, overall, it was a terrible disappointment. With all of the amazing places to eat in NY, we will definitely not go back to Patsy’s. |
