Now what it used to be.
We're Punta Gorda locals and have always loved having Perfect Caper in our back yard. How disappointing to go there last week with a friend to suffer lackluster service and food.
1) they have eliminated the beautiful white table cloths that differentiated them from the crowd. "Going Green," they said. Sure
2) always loved the calamari appetizer but this time it was not as good. Calamari was thin and tough.
3) one order was the NY strip. It looked good but definitely did not look like a NY strip. We actually had to send it back and we NEVER do that. You could not chew it! They said that NY strips have "a lot of marbling and shouldn't be ordered rare..." that's ridiculous. They made the same dish with filet mignon but by that time the rest of us were done with our meal.
4) service was lackluster, waitress did not appear engaged. Had to wait longer than we ever have just to put in our drink orders. Had to flag down someone to get more bread.

Summary - they did not even offer a dessert or the ruined entree on the house for our inconvenience. Just excuses. Not the "Perfect" Caper we are used to and it will be a long time before we go back. The locals are what keep these restaurants open in the summer. It would behoove The PC to remember that.

An incredibly inventive and highly skilled chef combine with an efficient and attentive staff to produce a really memorable dining experience. The foie gras is to die for, in any of its variations, and over all, The Perfect Caper the finest dining in the area.

On vacation from California, our hosts took us to The Perfect Caper restaurant. The impeccable service and food was excellent. We shared the appetizer of lightly fried calamari with Asian sauce, truly light and fresh. Main dishes Miso Irish Salmon and Momma's Chicken wonderful. A casual and elegant neighborhood restaurant and a must try.

We love eating in the bar. It has great atmosphere, good service and amazing food. The special menu is a great value and they have great drink specials. BTW the mussels are to die for!
