Podesto's Market & Deli, Stockton, California Restaurant Details

Food:

Just moved back to Stockton from New York City (don't ask me why...i know...long story). As far as the deli goes, Podesto's doesn't make sandwiches like a champion New Yorker but it IS pretty good. Made me feel somewhat back East where GREAT pride is taken in sandwich makin. The whole "you gotta fill out a paper for the sandwich you want" thing is a bit weird to me but...okey. Also strange that they don't have a toaster to make a toasted roll sandwich (essential in NYC) but....alright. I'll "roll" with it for now. Staff seems pretty nice and the market itself seems to have pretty fresh food and a good variety of items. Wake up Stockton and stop going to Subway or Togo's.....go to Podesto's and get the closest thing to a REAL New York sandwich I've tasted so far.

Specialty market. Crab more than a year old. Poor quality seafood.

The produce and meat / seafood staff are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. A great place to shop!

I thought that the service was among the top 3 of the worst service I have received anywhere that has food. Rude deli people, rude cashiers, and the store personal did not have the time to listen to my request just for info. Costco and Wal-mart staff has them beat.

Having lived in Stockton most of my life Podesto's is a must! If you want good fresh non prepackaged meat, cut exactly the way YOU want it there is no where else in town to go but Podesto's. Several knowledgeably, friendly butchers are there to get you just what you want. If you don't see it just ask. The produce is always fresh and well displayed. Have an older parent that lives alone - Podesto's offers smaller size cans as well as the regular. Podesto's is the place where you can get what you want in the amount you want it and there selection is large. To the owner and employees of Podesto's thank for being there for us.
