Steaks "cooked to perfection" plus "delicious" sushi keep this "swank" Upper West Side kosher steakhouse "crowded", even though the tabs are decidedly "not cheap"; service gets mixed marks, but most consider it a "fun venue", especially if you factor in "fancy cocktails" and occasional DJ nights.

Simply the Best! Every dish is a masterpiece!

My coworker Haim kept on ranting and raving about Prime Ko. I finally went with a group of friends and we all agreed, its the best! We had a phenomenal time.

Not cheap at all, but you get what you pay.

Okay Kosher sushi - not recommended for takeout. Great addition to the Prime Hospitality Group

Simply Unimpressed. Very over priced. THe food was nothing special.THe portions were small. And the service was pretty slow. I don't understand why people come back there. There better and cheaper kosher restaurants I'd recommend going before there.

This is honestly one of the worst steakhouses I've ever been to. I went here last night for a company holiday dinner. The bartenders were friendly and the drinks were good, so at least there was that. However, upon ordering the Japanese pepper-crusted filet I was told "It will be medium". There was no arguing. My friend ordered the "corn-fed" rib-eye and asked for it to be well-done. The waiter said he could only have it medium.

When the food came out my filet was well-done (not medium, as I was told it would be) and was dry. To compensate for the dry, low-quality meat, the restaurant serves a little dish of au-jus which you can dip the meat in. My friend also received a well-done filet, not a rib-eye. Other people at our table ordered rib-eyes and they came out medium-rare, not medium (as they were also told without any choice). I sampled one of these rib-eyes and found it to be bland with poor marbling. When the waiter was informed that my friend ordered a rib-eye and not a filet he was told that it would be TWENTY minutes to prepare his order properly. Annoyed, he elected to eat the well-done filet.

The quality of the steals we received is equivalent to what you would buy at a chain grocery store. It's not angus. It's not aged, as claimed on the website. And it's not prime, as claimed by the restaurant. It cuts, smells, tastes, and looks like USDA Choice- a thoroughly average piece of beef.

Some sides were served with the steaks. The green beans were seasoned well but they were over-cooked. The rice was hard when it should have been fluffy. The french fries, no doubt deep dried from frozen bags, were literally the best part of the meal. And that is so sad at a trendy Japanese-style steakhouse.

On a hygiene note, the restaurant looks nice. But I saw one of the sushi chefs downstairs, the larger one, sneeze directly onto a sushi roll that he was preparing. He looked up and saw me looking at him...and then proceeded to continue working on the same sushi roll. He did not throw away the food he sneezed on. He did not wash his hands. This is beyond disgusting.

As noted above, the service was unfriendly at best. The manager is a glad-handing little man who looks constantly worried. I would be worried if I was him too. He has no idea how to run a restaurant.

To summarize:

1) A steakhouse which does not even offer to cook your steak to your preference is not a steakhouse at all. It is a cafeteria.

2) A "steakhouse" which cannot cook a piece of meat to medium, but instead brings out thin 8 oz filets at well-done and 10oz rib-eyes at medium-rare- clearly does not know how to cook steaks.

3) A "steakhouse" which claims to serve aged, prime cuts of beef but instead brings out supermarket quality cuts is worse than a bad steakhouse- it is a dishonest one. This is especially true considering the $30 to $40 price tags for the steaks.

If I was the executive chef I would be ashamed to have my name associated with this place. And I feel really sorry for people who eat at this steakhouse because they keep kosher. You really deserve better food than this place can offer.

The ambiance and food was very good but the service was very poor. We made reservations and then the restaurant rushed us through our meal and kicked us out of our table. We were still eating, and the servers were eager to take away our plates and when we were finished, rushed us out of our table. We told the waitstaff that we were not finished and were still talking after our meal, when the waitstaff forced us to leave. I will never go back there again. Terrible service!
