Quivey''s Grove, Madison, Wisconsin Restaurant Details

Food:

We wondered over from the Country Suites next door to the more casual stable bldg....(I don,t think the house was even open) and we were pleasantly surprised. I never new that a salmon salad ($13.00?) could taste so good!
My wife had the meatloaf and garlic potatoes and thought it was also great.
I don't understand some of the complaints because for us, it was some of the tastiest food, and uniquest atmosphere, that we ever experienced!

Had an absolutely amazing dinner here. We did make a reservation based on another review but it probably wasn't necessary as the house wasn't too busy. The stable on the other hand was. Menu in the house is more fine dining while the stable is more casual. Our server was great and the food was fantastic!

Food:

A really cool atmosphere driven place, with slightly above average food. I had the special fish dish which was good but not great. The service was average, but the building/location as a whole was worth a trip. Be sure to check out the underground tunnel!

We have been going to Quivey's Grove to eat for over 20 years. It has been one of our favorite dining experiences - great food, great service and at an outstanding location that brings back a touch of early American charm in a house that is as old as anything still standing in south central Wisconsin. We had always liked the old-american dishes but often go for the Friday fish fry, which is quite reasonable. You do have to call ahead for a reservation as they can get busy, but a quick call will find you a spot the same night and keeps you from thinking about Culvers again. The Quivey's experience is miles ahead of other choices and it feels like a step back in time at a slower pace (but with servers that are clearly in step with your needs).
