Rainforest Cafe, San Antonio, Texas Restaurant Details

Food:

I bragged and bragged on this restaurant. I ate here as a child in Dallas and had very fond memories. Bringing my family to San antonio and for their first visit to texas, I was excited to bring the kids here to experience the atmosphere of this restaurant for the first time. Well... Unfortunately it was so disapointing we ended up walking out before even eating. From everything from hateful hosts who had us waiting over 30 minutes past our reservation time (although there were empty tables everywhere and no one else around waiting) to hateful guest services and staff on the store when I wantedcto buy my son a souvenir. Worst customer experience ever. And I travel several times a month all over the country and eat out too regularly because. I would not recommend this location to anyone unless they'd just as likely flush a hundred bucks down the toilet. The Dallas location is much better in every way possible but what really blew my mind was the distasteful customer service and hateful employees. Don't waste your money here. There's plenty of other places on the river walk that give a noce experience, beautiful atmosphere that you can pay the same or even less for and not be treated like trash. And management is no better. 10 thumbs down.

waiter messed up out order and the manager gave us the meal for free. It is a wonderful fun place especially for the kiddos!

I would have given this restaurant no stars but that was not a option. I requested a table for ten. I was told that it would be an hour wait (I was fine with that). 1 1/2 hours later when I asked the Host about us being seated they were unable to find us on the list. I asked to speak to the manager and she seated us immediately. The Servers were not knowledgeable of the items that were served on the menu. Some of our plates had cold food, items were wrong and it was not all brought out together. Four of us had to sit while the rest ate almost half of their food. And on top of all of that THE FOOD WAS OVER PRICED AND NOT GOOD!!!! The service was bad, no refills, had to ask several times for silver ware and to remove dishes from the table. After all of this I left the sever a small tip, and she looked at it and told me that I can keep it.

Upon entering elevator smelt like decayed animal feces. "Had" to setup late reservations only to find a 20% occupied restaurant.

Waiter clearly inexperienced. Ordered microwaved appitizer and ate it on napkins. Guess side plates arnt standard in the rain forest.

Waiter had the nerve to ask us what we want to "start with" while observing us dining on our napkins. My husband and I opted to split a meal - waiter was clearly pissed. I ordered side dressing only to receive it 15 mins later after we were done eating the appetizer.

Once our meal was done defrosting in the kitchen, waiter brought it out and tried a quick escape, but I was able to grab her. We asked for refills (which I guess arnt standard like side plates), ketchup, and napkins. Waiter was clearly overwhelmed, so we told her just forget the ketchup.

Waiter returned with a pile of napkins and told us she'll be back later because she has to go sing happy birthday to another party.

Service and food are so horrendous its comical. I recommend this only if you have zero expectations and love wasting money.

By the time we exiting the building, the elevator still smelt like animal feces, maybe that's part of the experience?.

Food:

Great food decent service for the busy time we went. Kids were sad cause the lightning show was better on the second floor but we were sitting on the third. Up there it's just a few blinking lights and no thunder really. Other than that we loved it had fun and bought awesome stuff from the gift shop
