Ritas On The River, San Antonio, Texas, Mexican Restaurant Details

Food:

We found the restaurant just as lunch was starting on a Wednesday after arriving in San Antonio. The place is huge with lots of outdoor seating by the water, a patio, and indoor seating. The service was really good -- pleasant hostess, nice server who was attentive and genuinely nice. We really liked our food that came out -- queso for the chips, burrito with fajita steak, and a chile relleno with spinach sauce. No complaints on the service and food. Only reason I gave it a four star instead of five was my drink was underwhelming -- it wasn't extremely cold and seemed a little watered down for a famous margarita. It was also served in a pint glass which I thought was a little weird. I think we would go back!

Food:

The location is great Appetizers and drinks are really good specially their fresh guacamole with chips and their margaritas. Food is ok, but I have had better Mexican food before at other places. Location wise you can't beat this location.

Food:

Loved the steak fajitas. Could give a couple more tortillas with the plate, two wasn't enough. The recommended frozen Longhorn Margarita was powerful. Downside was the queso in a small bowl and only got one serving of chips for the whole meal. The roaming Mariachi Band that played at our table was pretty nice to add to the Riverwalk atmosphere.

Food:

Never had anything worse. 45 minute wait, not for a table, but for chips and salsa. It was another 10 minutes later, so 55 minutes total to get our drinks. The margaritas we had were severely overpriced and underpoured. You can get better margarita literally anywhere. At least the food was awful and took forever though. The enchiladas were as dry as a crispy taco shell on the exposed ends, the sauce was disgusting and the cheese was separating. The baja fish tacos were dripping with what tasted like old grease - it had that bitter twang to it. I would rather eat tacos off of the street literally. The spanish rice was worse than school cafeteria rice, it was still in the shape of the scoop, yet was so dry it was crunchy. I'm not certain how this works out but believe me it happened. The atmosphere was overwhelmingly bum-laden, which was surprising to us being along the riverwalk. Our tab was double what it would have been at literally any other sit down mexican food restaurant. This restaurant among most of the other riverwalk restaurants we visited act like you should pay what they want, eat what they serve, deal with ridiculous wait times, and enjoy it because hey, your'e a tourist on the riverwalk. Please read this and do NOT visit Rita's, go to taco bell for better food, or even the nearest gas station would certainly surpass this awful wreck of a slop trough.

It took forever for our to be taken. Pictures of the food on the menu are nothing like what they serve. Food was not good at all. I had the burrito with beef fajita meat, which turned out to be cut up pieces of Carne asda which were greasy and fatty. The cheese inside the burrito tasted like canned nacho cheese. Someone in my party or swee a Margarita and had to send it back because thwe was a bug in the glass floating around. Only one type of salsa served which was okay tasting. The best part of my lunch was the chamoy margarita. This place has nothing on taco bell.
