This might sound picky, but it keeps coming to mind.
When I phoned Sat afternoon, and when I picked up my key early that evening, I told the host that I was there because my mom was in hospice nearby. It is the only lodging for miles around. But I did not move into the room till Sunday afternoon, which they must have noticed; the reason was I stayed at the hospital all night and she died at dawn (4 days ago, now).
My gripe is that no one ever said a kind or personal word to me. Not even to ask where I came from, whether I was enjoying my stay, nothing, even if they forgot I was there for hospice reasons. I was spoken to only in relation to breakfast food choices.
I know this is picky. Perhaps it had something to do with my renting the cheapest room; perhaps because hospice guests are unlikely to be repeat customers. Perhaps it was because I didn't pet their dog (adorable, I just don't like to handle dogs right before eating.)
But it will be a lasting memory to me, eating breakfast and the only human beings in sight ignoring me as much as possible.

Decent, it is very clean and the staff is great. My Mom booked the wrong room by accident, so I slept on a trundle bed that the nice staff set up for us while we were out having dinner. They do offer a breakfast, which is nothing out of the ordinary, and ENDS at 9am. The waffles are ok. The staff also provided a DVD player (we asked), which I am still trying to figure out how to use (I have no trouble with the ones at my house...) There is no way to fully cover the windows at night, so don't come if you need complete darkness to sleep (and bring your own pillows if you have neck trouble, after one night I was ready to crawl back to my chiropractor). Also beware that everyone at the inn can hear everyone else's conversations, as there is no sound absorption. They also have some sort of air freshener plug-in in the lobby that smells (to me) like stale jello mix. I'll admit I am rating a bit hard due to the fact that I much prefer hotels over B&B's, so, even though I WOULD put 3 stars, since I am a harsh critic I will grant it 4 to counter my harshness.
