I've passed by Roy's restaurants on the West Coast and in Hawaii and have always been intrigued what the interior would look like. The Tiki torches burning and outside atmosphere gave an impression that one would step into a unique dining establishment. Unfortunately the Roy's on Sand Lake Road has a very vanilla interior that doesn't meet my expectations - especially for a fine dining restaurant.

In addition to the uninspired decor, the seat cushion in my booth had a large (~6") tear in the center and I could tell it had been there for some time. The table at our booth also showed wear and tear. I wouldn't expect that type of lack of attention to detail for upscale dining.

Overall, a missed opportunity. The food was good - some of it delicious, but I like a unique atmosphere and Roy's didn't have it.

Was average quality. Good service but pricey for what you get. Had the butterfish and crusted snapper.

Exquisite. 05May 8-9pm
I've worked in the food service industry most of my life from being one of the many Chef's at the Super Bowl in Jax, FL to being a server at Cheese Cake Factory. At most places I'm usually disappointed in either the quality of the food or the lack of attention from the server and in rare cases, both. We could not have had a better experience at Roy's. I've put some serious thought into anything that wasn't on par and I can sincerely say that nothing comes to mind.
To start, the hostess were very friendly and inviting. Once seated, our server, Beau B. Was very quick to introduce himself and with his presentation I knew we were going to be taken care of. Not waited on, not just bringing our food and beverages, but truly taking care that we would have a pleasant and memorable experience.
We started with the awesome complimentary edamame (which I'll take over filling bread) and Chef Mac's Calamari. It had quite a kick but was so delicious we couldn't stop eating them! When I asked Beau about the swordfish (never having it before) he described what I received perfectly. He even recommended the perfect temperature. My wife picked the Lobster, Crab, and Shrimp. Everything was amazing, especially the lobster tail, which I feel most places over cook. The portions of both plates were perfect in size that we both could finish our meal with satisfaction without being overstuffed. Finally we chose the Pineapple Upside down for dessert. This dish is exceptional. It's fresh baked, moist, and is the prefect size to finish out our well executed 4 course meal.
I would also like to state that through this entire process the entire staff added to the enjoyment of our night. Most places the servers are so focused on only their table they neglect the other consumers around them. Not here, it was as if we were the only ones in the room and Beat had a whole team to back him up without question.
Make no mistake, it was a little more expensive than the typical Outback, Longhorn, etc but the statement "You get what you pay for" holds very true for Roy's. In my opinion, the untouchable quality of food AND service is scaled as it should be to those other places. If you are going for a special night with your significant other, or a "one of a kind" experience for your group of friends/family, try Roy's and you won't regret it.
Exquisite - extremely beautiful and, typically, delicate.

Celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary, and as most of our last 9 anniversories, Roys management and staff made it special. What we love most is the quality and freshness of the food, besides the great taste. That is what keeps us coming back, and reccomending to everyone. Thanks again!!!!!! Renee' & Ed Williams

Went to Orlando on vacation last October and our friends took us here and honestly it was the best food I've ever had! Super delicious, really good service and we got a free melting hot chocolate souffle from our waiter. Totally recommend!

"Aloha at its finest" can be found at this Restaurant Row link in Roy Yamaguchi's upscale Hawaiian chain, a "special-event favorite" that "never disappoints", from the "flavorful" and "innovative" fusion fare to the "gracious", "accommodating" staffers; true, it's "on the pricey side", but the "festive", "friendly atmosphere" helps ease the pain.
