"Inventive", "fun-to-share" American "small and medium bites" from former Top Chef-testant Heather Terhune "just click" at this River North hang in the Hotel Palomar where the "creative", "quality" cocktails "match the food" and fuel a "high-energy" bar scene; it's a "bit pricey" for some who find it "just ok" given the "hype", but the majority concludes "there's little room for disappointment here."

Restaurant is located inside the Hotel Palomar and easily accessible. Bar area was packed and a bit overcrowded considering the small width of the overall bar. In the back they have a beautiful dining area. I called ahead for a party of 6 so they seated us in a very nice room in back.

Overall food was extremely overrated in my opinion. I did enjoy the cheese curds which came with a spicy ketchup and offered a very unique flavor but lets face it you don't go to a place like this looking for cheese curds. Unfortunately the Venison and the Octopus were both taken off the menu which was a bit disappointing.

The scallops were a bit too salty but fairly large. The drink menu offers a plentiful variety of drinks... I chose to try the bourbon flight and will admit it was OUTSTANDING and one of the few reasons I still gave this place a 3 star.

The restaurant manager was a nice guy and did send us some champagne and a free desert on the house as well as an order of Turkey Poutine (the Turkey Poutine was a bit awkward as most of our diners were vegetarian and I told him that upfront). The toffee cake is very delicious and worth trying!

Overall I recommend coming here for the drinks and not the food! Not a bad option for a drink after work or a weekend evening but far from what we expected!

We went for just cocktails. The best ones we had in Chicago. Fantastic fresh originals, and all the classics well made. The drinks will not dissapoint.

Great food, drinks, and atmosphere. To eat we got the lamb, scallops, and capicola flatbread which were all delicious. The War of Roses was also a great drink.

Good food. Odd atmosphere. Our service was so-so. I think there are better alternatives

The food here is pretty mediocre. I was disappointed with every dish I ordered, and I even had to send one back because it was inedible. The service was fine and the drinks were pretty good, but I would not go back. I did email the manager about my experience and they responded very politely and apologized and even offered a free dinner should I choose to return which was very unexpected. However, I still haven't returned for my free dinner so... I think that says it all.
