I was very disappointed by most aspects of my experience at Sakura.

First, the restaurant was an old and sad looking space. There were two other groups eating there and no one else came in during the entire time I was there. Maybe it was because it was after 7:30pm.

Second, the food was also sub-standard. I started with the seafood soup. It was mostly corn starch and water. There were two sad pieces of shrimp and tiny bits of other unknown meat in the broth. But, it had no flavor whatsoever, even after I added soy sauce.

I ordered two rolls: Spider and Spicy Combo. The Spider roll was adequate but I've seen much better presentation. The Spicy Combo roll was not very spicy. Even the hot sake wasn't very hot. The service was OK and friendly, but couldn't make up for the poor food.

My biggest disappointment was seeing all the 4 star reviews and glowing reports. I changed my plans because of them and went to Sakura instead.

We have come here to eat only a handful of times. It has never been very busy when we have been there in the evenings, even on a weekend. There were only a few other patrons in the place. They must get a lot of lunch business or we just go on off nights. But I can't imagine why they aren't busier because their food is delicious. Their hot foods are great and the sushi is even better. The sushi prices are fairly reasonable and they have a pretty traditional selection (you won't find those extravagant fusion special rolls here), although you can get good sushi for less elsewhere. (This is the reason we don't frequent this place more often.) However, if you are looking for really good sushi and want to try something on the East side, I would recommend giving them a try at least a few times.

I love this restaurant for a very friendly service. The food even though may not looks fancy like the other restaurant. But the chef always has a good recommendation and a lot of customs dish or chef creations out side their regular menu. They will do any custom you like and sometimes recommend what is good for your taste.

I went in with high hopes considering the good reviews on google. And, it started off well considering how polite and accommodating the host/(owner?) was. The food was unfortunately fairly average, about what you'd expect out of a little restaurant, which I was hoping wouldn't be the case. The portions were generous, but the rice tasted awfully generic and didn't behave the way steamed rice should. Seemed to be more grocery store American rice, than something more traditional like Jasmine rice. A little pricier than I would have guessed too. Bottom line: an alright place if you're looking for some Japanese fare, but don't expect any cuisine epiphanies.

The sushi is always fresh and delicious and the waitress is one of the nicest, most attentive waitresses I've encountered. This place is worth trying! Update: I've tried other places (Wasabi was so overrated) and this is by far the best and most fresh.
