I feel bad it took this long to write a review for one of the finest Mexican restaurant. I've been coming back here for many years. There is one dish that distinguish this restaurant from the rest. It's family style carnitas. You haven't actually tasted the real carnitas until you tried this family style carnitas from Salmeron's El Tapatio. The amount of flavors that packed into that carnitas is truly amazing. For under $25, you will feed the whole family and pack some back for some more. Now that I mentioned it, I'm craving for some carnitas. Also try their agua frescas. I usually have very good experience with the waitresses. I highly recommend this restaurant.

You know me. You know I love Mexican food. With that being said, I love Salmeron's El Tapatio.

I had the pleasure of having their carne asada burrito today for lunch and I was incredibly delighted. Lots of meat, perfectly seasoned and a really good size. Not to mention the price was extremely reasonable.

Apparently people drive quite some way for their menudo (I'll be trying that next) and other dishes, and I don't blame them. The place is a a little out of the way for me, especially with no shortage of Mexican restaurants in Costa Mesa, but you can bet that I'll be bypassing all those and making my way to Salmeron's El Tapatio again.

Above all else, the service was impeccable. Very attentive, warm staff - even the owner came by to ask how everything was. That's the mark of someone who truly cares about the experience within a restaurant, and something I'll never overlook.

was there for my birthday a while back having dinner with someone and waiting on a couple friends,, 8pm at night my friend shows up and the front door has been locked and they are closed! I had told them i was expecting friends and they didn't bother to tell me they were closing soon and had already closed the kitchen so they wouldn't make more food for my two hungry guests.. i had even called earlier in the day to ask if i needed to make reservations at that time for my birthday with a bunch of guests.. your hours are terrible.. closing at 7pm every day except 8pm on fri and saturday.. which is why i dont come for dinner and havent been there for lunch in a long time... another thing they do here is instead of present u a bill, the server just comes to your table and tells u how much u owe and stands there waiting for you to pull out your money and give it to her right there.. very unprofessional style of service ..

the food is pretty good and inexpensive but there are a million other decent mexican restaraunts in santa ana to go to..
