I was on a business trip last week and heart about the new german place in town. I am native german and i was really excited to check out this place. I know almost all german places in and around NYC (there are many), so i was ready to check out the new place in LA.

I was really impressed about the food and the friendly service, i loved the Sausage Platter (Wurstplatte), Brezel with Mustard and the Reibekuchen. They have a great beer selection on tap, and also some hip german sodas like Bionade (my customer loved it).

Compared to to all other german places i went it is under my TOP 3, there is potential to get the Top Spot, i will definitely check it out again on my next trip to LA.

Check out the Ping Pong, and now the show german Soccer saturday morning, i really miss this in NY Area.

If I could give negative stars, I would.

I had a terrible experience ordering food from Sante La Brea. Now, I've never been to the restaurant - so the experience may be completely different when you're actually there in person. But, ordering food for delivery was a nightmare. Out of 12 lunches ordered only one person had their order correct, felt the food was as described, and liked it. The other 11 either had issues like 'There's no steak in my sizzling steak fajitas' or things like 'this ahi tuna is overcooked (and it was, cooked solidly through so there was no pink at all, not seared as expected), and smells like cat food'.

They also took an hour and a half to deliver. This wouldn't be so bad if they had simply said so- but they estimated the time as 45-60 minutes. Look, at least give me some options- just tell me that it's going to take 90 minutes so I can plan accordingly, or choose to order from somewhere else.

The verdict on set: NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!!!

I really wanted it to be good, as we have vegetarian, vegan and gluten allergic folks here, and I love to offer them good, healthy options when we order food in. But, Sante La Brea utterly failed to deliver- at least via delivery.

We have been going to this restaurant about once a week since it opened over a decade ago, and it is one of our two favorite places in Los Angeles (the other is Hugo's). The decor started out a bit funky, but after several revisions they have finally settled on a very pleasant and casual look that perfectly suits the cuisine and our temperament. They have outdoor as well as indoor dining, and the staff is pleasant and attentive.

This is a health food restaurant that features both vegan and non-vegan offerings, all extremely healthful, and all at very reasonable prices. The food is artfully prepared and presented without losing the wholesome taste and appearance of the original whole grains and vegetables that went into it. There are typically three specials that vary from week to week.

We love the wild Alaskan salmon that now seems to be available every time we are there (you have to ask for it, as there is other salmon available at a slightly lower price). They serve this in a variety of ways; we especially like the salmon "filets platter" that comes with their brown rice and quinoa mix. They also have very economical wraps; we like the rosemary chicken wrap with brown rice and vegan creamed spinach, which comes with a root salad. Be sure to ask for the cilanto lime dressing on the root salad.

The desserts are vegan and most are sweetened without sugar. Our favorite at the moment is the chocolate truffle.

This food is absolutely delicious. Even if you're not a vegan/vegetarian, you will still love the well-thought out dishes prepared by the chefs. We left the place feeling absolutely satisfied. The service was great, the ambience cozy and well-lit (note: it is undergoing construction at the time of this writing), and the food was bursting with flavor and filling like Thanksgiving. I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes to eat food that is good for you and good to eat at the same time. The prices are more than reasonable.
