Side Pockets, Wichita, Kansas Restaurant Details

We were there on a Saturday evening. Asked for menus took over an hour to get them. Then when we got them she didn't take our order for another 20-30 minutes. Forgot to bring our round of beers. When we got our food It was cold, waitress said it'd been setting for a while in back. Manager comes and brings us their finest hot wings, "on the house" needless to say we won't be back.

Food is great but service is horrible. Always seem to be understaffed and wait times for food and drink is long. It's too bad because it is a nice place with good food.

Pretty good food for a bar, but they always seem to be understaffed somehow, even with half a dozen of them up front with only about 20 customers in the whole place (fairly early in the evening). It seems to take forever to get anything - tonight we sat with our drinks for at least 10 minutes before they even brought us a menu, and then at least 15 more before they took our food order.

I've never reviewed any of the bars I've been to, but Side Pockets has changed all that. I don't have any horror stories, just really unpleasant experiences. I had some friends in town for the weekend, and since I live near this bar (just moved to Wichita, still feeling out the area), we ended up going there on both Friday any Saturday nights.

First impressions: the place is huge. They've got plenty of pool tables. We like to play darts, and they have two nice boards.

Their Achilles heel is service. Interaction with half a dozen of their staff was altogether unsatisfactory. They were all inattentive and impersonal. We stayed till close both nights (2 AM), but were hollered at for last call at 1:15 (math = 45 minutes early???). They locked the front doors from the outside and turned on the overhead fluorescent lights. Terrible. A waitress collected my unfinished beer at 1:55. I understand that it was kind of late, but if you don't want to be open until 2 AM, then don't paste it on your front door. Also, if we're not friends, don't call me names and swear at me. Two visits to this place were enough to convince me never to return.
