Ah, the Silver Fox. With its glamours Art Deco facade it looks like it'd be a really fancy joint inside too, but it's not, lol. That said, it doesn't mean it's all shabby or anything inside--it's clean and quite roomy. I've been several times and it's a fun place to hang out. The last time I was there there was quite a dance party in effect! The bartenders are always friendly, and as with most bars in Long Beach, the drinks are stiff. If you need to get yo gay bar on on the corner of Redondo of 4th, this is the place for you :)

It's kinda like the 80's are back, music videos, patrons who were at their prime during the 80's. The staff arrogant, Manager Mr. Barns ignorant to complaints. Only highlight was the door guy Sam, who was so nice and looked away for $10 when my

For a while, I saw the Silver Fox as my "Cheers." I'd walk from my place and indeed, everyone new my name. Until, one night when I was told that I could not enter. I asked why and was told that they did not have to give me a reason. I as really nonplussed (as well as p_____d).

In a short while at other gay bars in town, I was wearing one of my several Vietnam veteran t-shirts and told that I should not wear that if I wanted to get into the Silver Fox. i thought we were over this stupidity finally but it has raised it's ugly head, again. Others have told me that they had seen the same thing happening. So, they simply did what we Vietnam vets did for so many years - we didn't tell anybody.

I am more than irate at this situation and cannot believe that it is allowed to happen. You would think that experiencing the discrimination that some heap on gay people would be enough to make us sensitive to such treatment by others...apparently not.

Maybe a wholesale boycott of this disgusting and prejudicial establishment is now in order. I am amazed that it has been allowed to exist to this point.
