You can join the "business expense crowd" for "celebrity-watching" at this NYC transplant in River North, where "big-portioned", "cooked-as-ordered" "prime" meats are served in "happening" wood-accented digs; "helpful" staffers "take their responsibilities seriously", the "lovely outdoor patio" offers "wonderful views" and the more casual downstairs grill has been remodeled and now offers small plates.

Unfortunately looking at previous reviews the ratings were either 1 awful or 5 excellent so I took a chance. I lost. We were served the wrong order and it was so wrong they had to clear the table and start again. How can a restaurant that serves hundreds of orders a day get it so wrong.
The chef and the waiter obviously don't check the orders. A sad end to a hopeful evening

Food:

Walked in without a reservation and got an incredible table by the waterfront right away on a Saturday night. Decor is beautiful, hunting lodge meets country club smoking room-ish. Our waiter, Kevin was incredibly courteous, knowledgeable about the menu, wines and pairing. Wine and steak were truly beyond expectations, cooked and finished perfectly. I'd recommend the Cajun style bone in ribeye, which even to a steak purist would be laudable. All side dishes have a home style, but sophisticated taste. I'm a person who likes to dress down intentionally and it was incredibly refreshing to be treated like a patron of worth when I expected an attitude of condescension, like some other Chicago steakhouses. Although slightly on the pricey side, this place is worth every penny. I'm a fan for life, would recommend to anyone, will definitely be going back. Bravo.

Always fast and superior service from this chain but I particularly love this location in Chicago. First it's open earlier and closes later than most of the steakhouses in Chicago, the service is exceptional even when you order take out and the food never disappoints. My steaks are always cooked to perfection and the sides have a smaller option in case you're just eating for one. This location has a nice outdoor dining space that lets you enjoy the beautiful Chicago skyline. Pricey but worth it, I will continue to patronize S&W where ever I go, you can never go wrong!

Food:

Delicious skirt steak, mashed potatoes and Australian Savingon blanc. On the lunch menu the streak is under Steak Frites just opt out for the mashed. They're wonderful.

We dined here for the first time today, taking advantage of their lunch menu for Chicago Restaurant Week. It was an excellent deal as all dishes were regular sized. We couldn't believe how great a value it was. The split pea soup was indeed delicious. So were the salmon, the fresh green salad and the filet mignon medallions. The coconut cake, again full sized even as part of the Prix fix deal, was heavenly. The bartender did a brilliant job with our mojito and Moscow Mules. The service was superb and the view from our table by the windows was fantastic to boot. We will definitely come back, even paying full price.

Update after coming back several times: the king crab legs were excellent! In terms of cocktails - Paris 75 was something we'd never had before and it wowed us with the subtle layered taste.
