Loved their steak and their shrimp, but all of their locations, including this one, went out of business years ago. I drive by the abandoned building and wish that they were still open. :(

I went there at 7:55 on Wednesday evening. Although they were supposed to stay open until 8:30; they were closing because they did not have enough customers. The owner explained that she cannot afford to pay salaries if there aren't enough customers. If you want to eat here, YOU BETTER CALL AHEAD. Their posted hours mean nothing.

Just a down home looking place but EXCELLENT fried seafood dinners. SHRIMP are awesome!! Peanut butter pie my husband can never resist. Everytime we go to Jax, we head to St. John's on Lane Ave.

TERRIBLE and FOOD POISONING! Steer clear of this place. Years ago it was great but has gone downhill fast and hard. Before entering I noticed one of the kitchen staff with a shopping cart full of bags of ice, shouldn't they have an ice maker in the back??? Long ago you were seated, not anymore. There was a woman at the desk doing nothing who just as well could have been a hostess.

So we grabbed a menu and silverware and found a seat. Tables were clean I give them that much. My husband ordered the lot for one and myself, being a vegetarian, a house salad. We got gator tail for him and onion rings for myself for appetizers. The waitress brought the food out in pieces. His coleslaw to go with his meal, and my salad came out 1st. Then our appetizers came out then his entree.

The waitress didn't come ask if we wanted a refill drink or check on how things were. She was nice but hard to get anything from her including the check.

Now the food. BLAND and tasted terrible. The seafood my husband said like the dragged it thru the flour then fried it. He said it had a fishy taste to it and used alot of sauce to cover the bland flour and fishy taste. My salad was fine, but its hard to mess up lettuce, cukes and tomatoes. But my onion rings did taste flat to me. Like his seafood , it tasted like they were dragged threw flour then fried.

To add to it my husband later in the night developed an upset stomach. We figured he had Salmonella because I've had it before and the symptoms were the same.

All in all we will NOT return to this place. And BTW its up for sale too which could explain for the lack of everything. Stay away is my advice.

Food was hot, plentiful and blackened shrimp was excellent. Waitress was prompt and helpful as well as a great sense of humor.
