Star of India is my favorite restaurant in San Diego. I usually go to the one downtown.

Food:

The best indian food in san diego - I've been here 10 years and still nothing compares. A little pricey and in the heart of downtown but worth it to make your way there. The restaurant is small but was a nice ambiance and is decorated beautifully. I Love it!!

Food:

Passable food, passable service, and mediocre atmosphere for a premium price. Prices are a minimum of 30% higher than comparable restaurants.

Food:

Excellent Indian food for US standards; one of the best curries I have had here. I am from the UK and have survived on intravenous Indian food for decades. Still, you need to travel out of the US for a really good Indian but this is about as good as you can easily find over here. I cannot understand why no restaurant can do the naan though, what's that about. How hard can it be?

Outstanding food!! Service is on par the and the authentic Indian beer is great!!

I'm not sure what the hell the last two people are talking about, the Garlic Nan is spectacular and the curry is top notch. You get to pick how spicy you want it, 1-10, 10 being a nose bleed if you are not used to it (7 is a safe number for most Indian food fans). This is good Indian food without all the in your face posh of the other types, in fact chances are you will see one of the two owners there nightly and they are very sweet people.

I don't even know what Chicken Biryani is, it sure as hell isn't on the menu.

Chips and this excelent dipping sauce (this spicey pickeled vegetable sauce)
